February 14, 2025 at 8:41 pm #35627Going to treat yourself maybe, especially before us in the UK may get caught up in a trade tit-for-tat with the US and prices increase ?

February 16, 2025 at 2:14 pm #35630Not treating myself, no. I have a 15 so no need for the SE. However, my mum has a iPhone SE, bought in 2022 so its approx. 3 years old now so considering maybe purchasing it as a replacement as not sure when the SE 2022 will be dropped and it would also mean phone is on a USB-C port like other devices so means we can ditch the lightening cables. Mum isn’t a big phone user, only uses it to call and just about send a text, doesn’t browser the web, plays a card game on the phone and may need a book on it if doesn’t have iPad but that’s about it. So in comparison to many phones, most of the features are not used tbh, more of a basic user. So just deciding if its worth the cost to replace it or not at this point. On one hand be good to be able to have just lightening cables then we can use any cable rather than checking we have right cable for right device, on other hand, it may be 2 or 3 years before they stop the 2022 SE support so might not be worth it but on other hand, might get a bit more back by selling it/trading it in now… decisions decisions.
On a separate note, I’m hoping to get the new SE for my work phone in few months, I’m still managing just about with a iPhone 7, it has issues charging some times and battery does drain quickly now i.e. every day it’s down to 20% and I only really use it for 2FA to login to work stuff as needed so not constantly using it etc but I’ve been living with it for a while now and been holding out for a lightening version as no way they will pay for a iPhone 15/16 etc and tbh I don’t really need it tbh so I’ve been holing out for the USB-C port SE to come.

February 16, 2025 at 7:30 pm #35631From what I understand, Apple normally supports a product for 7 years after it is discontinued from manufacturing and the Apple iPhone SE Gen 3 (2022) is still in manufacture.
Apple stopped providing security updates for the iPhone 7 in 2022 but glad to see it is still working and fully operational (Apple
)
Hopefully the new iPhone SE Gen 4 will be USB-C as they (Apple) are required to be by the European Union

February 17, 2025 at 7:07 pm #35635I believe the SE gen 3 was stopped being produced in Dec 2024 due to EU advising all devices must be USB-C now so they stopped providing in EU at least I believe in Dec 2024. Might still be being produced in US etc though.
Yeah I read 5-7 years for updates so its 3 years old now so might be worth considering a change and maybe trade in/sell to get few quid back to lower to cost to change.
