So, for me, I think this new firmware is working fine.
Perfect, thanks for positive feedback,

February 1, 2022 at 9:17 pm #17502Right, couple of issues today. Nothing major, but my wife and son each reported some warnings about a poor connection – one on Teams and one on Zoom.
Of course it could be a genuine issue, but we have fibre and a 920Mbps connection so unless there was a backhaul issue, there really should have been no possibility of a poor connection. Latency is sub 3ms also!
I don’t know what time either had the issue well enough to read through the system log, but unless it becomes more of an issue (like actually losing the connection) then I’m not going to be too concerned.
The router has been up since I turned off the auto reboot last week.

February 1, 2022 at 9:25 pm #17504If you get a moment, check the logs for ((protocol 0000 is buggy, dev archer) much like the issue @dodgydrains experienced

February 1, 2022 at 10:13 pm #17505It has been 5 days since I had the ‘protocol 0000 is buggy, dev archer’ issue. Connection has been stable for me, hopefully rest of the week will be fine too. Another session of Teams meetings tomorrow to come.

Nothing in the log for that.

February 2, 2022 at 4:45 pm #17515Another whole day of problem free Teams calls today. Looks like that side of it has vastly improved.
If only ASUS got back to me on the ‘protocol 0000 is buggy, dev archer’ error logs I sent.

February 2, 2022 at 4:59 pm #17516I did speak with ASUS regarding that particular error, Alas they are all on there Chinese New Year break at the moment so hopefully next week should have some feedback etc.

February 2, 2022 at 5:00 pm #17517Nothing in the log for that.
That is unfortunate, hopefully today has been better from a Teams and Zoom perspective

From another forum it seems that “Group Key Rotation Interval” (only on backhaul wifi) causes the problem of nodes disconnections. Setting it to “zero” fixes the problem (unfortunately the setting’s modification does NOT propagate to nodes, so it is necessary to use telnet to change them too).
Personally, when I tested the newer firmware after 42095 I noticed thet the ping disconnection between nodes happened at precise time interval… thus the above thesis could be correct… I think it would be a good move to suggest Asus to check this particular aspect.

February 2, 2022 at 6:46 pm #17523Interesting, I will add it to the list when I next speak with ASUS

February 3, 2022 at 8:57 am #17531Here’s my feedback after +/ 2 weeks with the new firmware :
First of all, after installing, I did a factory reset (via the WPS button procedure), and reconfigured the whole thing.
Findings :
- Video streaming from nas (nas -> asus satelite -> PC) : no more issues : so this is really positive!
- Remote desktop sessions : stable, no interruptions, so far so good.
- BUT : Teams : almost with every teams meeting, I’ve been experiencing regular interruptions of about 5 seconds. After this period, connection is re-established. Those interruptions occur while laptop is connected via wifi to satelite of via Ethernet cable to satelite. So, please ASUS : fix this! (connection to internet is via Office VPN)
On the other side : When my wife is ‘homeworking’, her laptop (wireless connection) is connected to the base station, and she uses skype for calls and doesn’t complain about any interruptions.

February 3, 2022 at 9:59 am #17532I am wondering, are all calls via VPN using Teams ? any chance of not using VPN for a TEAMS call for testing etc. so I can let ASUS know ?
I assume TEAMS calls via VPN using Firmware 42095 worked as expected ?
Just a thought ?

February 3, 2022 at 11:50 am #17533@UK Sentinel: Yes, indeed, with firmware 42095, there were no issues at all with Teams calls through office VPN (F5 big-ip Edge Client).
I’ve got a couple of teams meetings this afternoon. i’ll cut my VPN, and do the Teams meetings without VPN. See if it makes any difference. Keep you informed…

February 4, 2022 at 7:33 am #17535update: with or without VPN, i’ve experienced the dropouts of about 5 seconds during team meetings. So, VPN isn’t the cause of the dropouts.
