Seems BT have lost another customer, but luckily for BT they own Plusnet

August 26, 2023 at 11:39 am #26636Yes, lucky for them.ย I’m hoping the connection remains as stable as it is currently as effectively I’d imagine its still BT’s just the account is under plusnet and requires different username/pswd, rest I’d imagine is identical.

August 30, 2023 at 12:12 pm #26683So, interesting switch from to plusnet, first time I switched ISPs in ages…. Last night at around 1am, my broadband went down.
I was watching something on the TV and it just suddenly hung…
Logged into my router for it to say something along the lines of incorrect details.
Not had any email/txt as mentioned would happen when they switch over and the date was down as 31st Aug.
So i waited for a bit, still no change.ย Then I get a email from BT saying they are stopping services broadband, digital phone BUT no date on when it was actually happening.
At this point i thought hmm can’t be a coincidence, they must of stopped the BT service (Even though contact doesn’t end till sept and switch isn’t till 31st) but maybe they stopped it and now it’s waiting PlusNet to re-connect it to there service?
So I entered PlusNet details into router (making a copy of the existing BT ones just in case) and nope – no change, still incorrect info.
Waiting a bit, still no change so decided to put them back as BT details in case BT just happened to have a issue and went to bed.
This morning, no internet and no further emails or texts.ย I opened router page again and entered PlusNet login details, this time connection said disconnected.. then it changed to connected and all seems ok. Didn’t have to change any other settings and the plusnet router is still in the box, unwrapped, unopened as never planned on using it
Then got the email from PlusNet which apparently was sent as around 6am but never came though to mobile etc so bit odd but thankfully all ok, was expecting to maybe have a day of no internet till they did it tomorrow.
So thankfully all working, speeds are as expected and all seems ok so far.ย Fingers crossed it’s as stable as my previous internet :)

September 1, 2023 at 12:59 pm #26694Yes, it seems BT disconnected us at approx. 1am and PlusNet reconnected us at 6am, not sure why the 5hr delay but at least it was through the night when most are asleep.
BT now requesting there equipment back… even though i did advise i never wanted it.. or they will charge, I think they are sending a bag to send it back in so will wait and see if comes.

September 1, 2023 at 3:48 pm #267045 hour delay sound good to myself, I have switched ISP before, not FTTP, and had to wait nearly all day for the new connection to be established.
BT are quick on their disconnects, must have a hotline to Openreachย
