Warrenty is always a problem, as Asus doesnt give worldwide guarantee, so you would have to the country where you bought your router and they might charge for shipping back worldwide too.
Thats often more for shipping than its worth.

Power plug is not the problem, you can use an adapter.

Another problematic thing is the bootloader and firmware which may be different.
I had an Asia model DSL-Router and you couldnt change region settings like on routers bought in EU, it had very limited WLAN power.

Your knowledge is probably from youtube.

For crosstalk lines must lay in parallel close together on relevant distance to occour.

Without line connected to the modem there is no antenna inside to emit radiation and characteristic wave impedance is not matched to transmit relevant amount of power.

When DSL is not connected there is almost no power used on open circuit of telephone line.
Ofcourse chips still need some energy, but I think not worth to discuss about and not clear whether they can be turned off at all.
