Better to use an ONT (from provider) and an own router, could be a 4060 or 7590(ax) if you need more speed.
Here (in Austria) the fibre models wont work on PON, as providers may use special configs on net and user side, so you have to stick on their ONT.

They take more in % if they manage to wrest less, so for <1k maybe 50% and for more downto 20% to get back their costs.

Here in Austria I am still waiting and they will take 30% fixed. But dont think to get much (maybe about 1k€ probably in the next 3-5 years).
But already I got 500€ from my legal protection insurance to dont start an individual court case which they would have to pay for.
