OK can you try a couple more things before making any of the above changes.
Power down the router, hold the WPS button in, power up, wait 5 -10 seconds and then release WPS button. Allow to boot and check if weird setting are still there.
If that fails to get rid of them, then enable telnet, open a terminal connection, login and enter the command mtd-erase2 nvram. It is important that you power down the router immediately after doing this. Do not do anything else, especially a soft reboot. Power back on. Then again check to see if your weird settings are still there.

It was set at zero on the version you posted. OK so maybe rule that out.

Thought so
booji’s is set to zero
So that’s another setting that needs to be corrected.
The rest of the differences I’ve found seem on the face of it to be easily explainable, Mac, config etc.
So I’d try and set those three that I’ve found and see if they survive a hard reboot.
Though I have to say the dsl_enable would be my favourite culprit.

OK another anomaly
odmpid=
this should be
odmpid=DSL-AC68U
UK Sentinel can you check what ‘dsl_enable=’ is set to on a functioning DSL-AC68U?
I’ve not got a full dump of a clean DSL-AC to compare.

Caught it immediately after I posted it, couldn’t do anything about the email copy that was sent to you.
That setting will not have been changed by flashing the standard firmware, it doesn’t touch it.

OK I’ve only had time for a very quick scan through.
One thing stands out a mile:
model=RT-AC68U
Try entering the following
nvram set model=βRT-AC68Uβ
nvram set asuscfemodel=βRT-AC68Uβ
nvram set asuscfecommit=1
nvram commit
Then do a power down reboot
Telnet back in again and do the NVRAM show and check that the model setting has stuck.

The ‘booji’ text on those screen shots makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
If this survives a hard reset it indicates that you have been meddling with things that you don’t understand. I can’t think of a single reason why your own name would appear in the configuration apart from a failed attempt to vanity name either the router or some of it’s settings.
I’m finding it very very hard to believe that the only thing you have done is accidentally flash Merlin RT firmware on this router.
Please be honest if you’ve done something else it would be useful to know what it is so that we can help you reverse it.
Please do a hard reset of the router then enable telnet, connect to it and post the entire results of the command NVRAM show.

Which is exactly what I would expect to happen, with the recovery completely wiping everything back to factory settings with the latest firmware.
So Mr Booji what are you doing that is different?

Thanks for doing that, saved me some work.
So it would seem that it’s moving back from Merlin’s fork that is the issue.

OK I will have some time on Thursday to have a play with this. Will try to return a converted DSL back from RT. In the meantime, maybe try loading official Asus RT and then going back to DSL via recovery.
