I will be ordering the XT8 next week, should I updating the firmware. Which is the problematic version. Thanks all Lou
For the ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) it seems the only good (stable) firmware is release 42095

September 10, 2021 at 9:04 am #15105Thanks UK Sentinel. Hopefully that will be out of box firmware. Is there an automatic update that will kick once switched on.
By the way what’s with the prices, yesterday £307 on Amazon, today £399!
Last week, £307 pre order on Scan, today £409!

September 10, 2021 at 9:28 am #15106Th price increase is most odd, usually a few months before ASUS release a new product (ZenWiFi Pro ET12 and XT12) the older kit drops in price.
Maybe a chip shortage driving up prices again.
The ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) during set-up will do an Auto – update, but this can be stopped and the firmware can be downloaded from here

The auto update will update the FW to the latest, which is currently 43181. If you want to update to a specific firmware (i.e. 42095) then this would need to be done on each unit individually.
The out of box firmware for each of my orders and replacements were very early firmware from last year.
With regards prices, they are going back up on most sites. As UKSentinel mentioned it must be something to do with chip shortages.
You can also try Amazon Warehouse which is usually decently priced.

September 10, 2021 at 2:17 pm #15110Thanks again.
Out of the box, how do I disable autoupdate, or will the app prompt me.
Guessing the older firmwares will be on Asus’s site for manual update?

September 10, 2021 at 5:34 pm #15112The app did not try to auto update the firmware for me
The only firmware currently available from ASUS website are 42095 and 43181. The older firmware prior to 42095 are not there anymore
Even if for some reason the app did auto update, 42095 firmware is available to download manually

September 14, 2021 at 8:14 am #15270Hi All
Go the XT8 and quite happy so far. Had couple of Zoom meentings on out of box firmware, and that was fine. Had one disconnection which resolved itself in couple of minutes.
Have upgraded to 42095 and will update how I get on.
By the way interested in getting one of these wall mount units, as they would be ideal for me. Anyone got one and can confirm whether they fit the XT8
Thanks again
Lou

September 14, 2021 at 10:13 am #15272Also on Amazon and rates well but router seems to be not easily removed from bracket after mounting due to retaining clips and 90° Ethernet cables maybe better suited .

November 26, 2021 at 3:58 pm #16470I know the ET8 was not destined for the UK, but was under the impression that the ZenWiFi Pro ET12 and XT12 was going to be an EU/UK release ?
But I do write so much I sometimes forget what I say

Edit: Just checked my emails with ASUS and they definitely say ….
( currently, we plan to launch ET12 in EU in the beginning of next year. )
Plans can change

The link you posted says the XT12 will launch in other regions, but the ET12 will be exclusively available in the USA. Any chance you could ask your contact for clarification?
I’m looking for a wifi6e router or access point, ideally with 10gbe copper. The only one I’ve found is the archer ax206, but no availability info on that either.
