Installed the new firmware via gui (without factory reset).

The problem I had with previous firmware arose again : interuptions when streaming video content from nas to PC. (NAS is hardwired with base station. PC is hardwired on satelite station on first floor of the house. Base and satelite station are connected with 5ghz wifi backhaul).

I am unable to watch a movie without video cutting of. Strangely enough, interuptions occurs when a familymember with iphone moves from first floor to ground floor or other way around. Somehow moving other wifi devices interferes with video stream? happens with or without activating adaptive QOS.

I’ve reverted back to the “safe” 3.0.0.4.386.42095, where I never had this problem.

guess i’ll stick to 42095 for me.

Would a factory reset influence this behaviour? If so, when do you suggest doing the factory reset : before or after upgrading the firmware?

Hi, A factory reset may help, always best to upgrade firmware and then factory reset

Let us know if this helps with streaming content via NAS

I’ll wait until I’m sure that this new firmware is stable on backhaul connection… I’ve 5 apparates so I prefer to see how it goes…

ok, did (again) the upgrade to the new firmware, factory reset, re-paired base and satelite.

    results :

    • still interuptions  when streaming video from nas
    • still interuptions when doing remote desktop session to server
    • still interuptions when using teams

back to the ‘safe’ 42095 firmware for me.

It might be worth sending ASUS feedback.  Hopefully UK Sentinel can help with getting a response from them.

Does anyone know what is the fastest real world speed possible on the 5GHz-1 band on the XT8?

Hi @Jacky-Decoster – can I ask you to send a feedback form and detail as you have above, if you mention at the begging of message ‘UK Sentinel’ and I can chase from this end also

it is odd that @dodgydrains Teams calls works well and yours does not ?

I can confirm that for me Teams is as stable as 42095.

Just been upgraded today to 1Gb broadband for £20 with Hyperoptic (Special 10 year anniversary deal they have going).  Getting amazing speeds wired from the XT8 main router (852Mbps DL and 927 Mbps UL).  Much lower wireless speeds with Wifi 6 device.

1Gb broadband for £20 with Hyperoptic is an amazing deal

Wifi 6 speeds are defendant on many variables – but I assume some devices are faster than others with wifi 6 ?

The fastest speed I got was 653Mbps UL and 830Mbps DL on the 5GHz-1.  This is from the main XT8 router.  The furthest XT8 is still roughly 500Mbps UL and DL.  I didn’t get the 1Gb for the additional speed, got it just the £15 savings and the stability.

Never seen that Brand before, but specs say Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), is supported so wifi should be quicker ?

The Oppo supports 80 and 160MHz Wi-Fi 6. Of course that’s just 80 with the XT8 in most usage cases.
