A bug, definitely
,Was both 2.4GHz and 5GHz effected ? Is Guest WiFi enabled by any chance ?I do not have Guest WiFi enabled. All devices connected to the 3 nodes lost connection but not sure if the main XT8 unit connected to the Hyperoptic modem/router was still working. Could it be the backhaul went down? Hope ASUS find the cause from the logs I sent.

January 22, 2022 at 10:39 am #17309Not sure TBH, I remember seeing these types of errors (codes)back in the day, relating to Wifi and Guest wifi etc ?
(protocol 0000 is buggy, dev archer)

January 23, 2022 at 2:35 pm #17333Had mine running for a day now after a full factory reset but had lots of issues.
Sky Q keeps disconnecting.
PS5s got lag and slow speed.
Also got frequent Internet time outs out even though everything seems to be working and connected.
I’ll see how it goes for the rest of today and if not better I’ll revert back again.

January 23, 2022 at 3:07 pm #17334not good at all, not sure why yours is so unstable, probable best to go back to 42095 for now ?
BTW – when you factory reset, did you rebuild from scratch or restore config via back-up cfg file ?

January 23, 2022 at 5:56 pm #17335@Dave, I always use this method to factory reset if it helps:

January 23, 2022 at 7:48 pm #17336Thanks both.
I rebuilt from scratch after the factory reset.
I’ve had a play around with the settings like channel settings. Not sure if that bad made a difference? I’ve reset to defaults now and will see how it goes.
It’ll get a test tomorrow too on Teams etc so I’ll report back.

January 23, 2022 at 8:55 pm #17337@dodgydrains – I didn’t factory reset as per the link you sent over.
I tried both the reset button and the command in the GUI.
If I’m still having trouble in the morning I’ll try the method in your link
Thanks

January 23, 2022 at 10:58 pm #17338My wife had no issues with Teams before the weekend and it seems to have been stable all weekend. I still have it rebooting at 4am each day, so can’t tell how it might perform for days on end. Thus far I’ve not noticed it drop to 2.4GHz on the mesh node, which is great.
(Sadly whenever I report no issues, it’s like the XT8 is sniffing out my postings and decides to throw a spanner in the works!)

January 23, 2022 at 11:02 pm #17339For some reason it’s now blocking access to all connected devices.
Wifi is still connected on each but I cannot connect to the XT8’s interface or the internet from any unless I do a full power cycle.
It did work for around 2 hours this evening after a factory reset again – although not the factory reset dodgy drains suggested.
I’ve just done another factory reset as per the link – this is the last try – if it fails again it’s going back on the old firmware or I’ll return it.

Shame. if issues persist, I would go back to 42095 – stability during the working week is essential.
What Broadband service / modem are you using ?

January 24, 2022 at 10:29 am #17343I’m on BT GFAST with the superhub 2 (330mb/50mb)
WiFi is disabled but it’s acting as the router as there’s no bridge mode that I can see on the settings.
Since last night the speed I was getting was around 100mbps on speed test, normally it’s 300mbps on wifi. I’ve changed a bunch of settings again this morning and seem to have cured that issue. Back to normal speed again.
I’ll run it for the rest of the day and see how it goes
I used to have the Orbi RBK52, didn’t really have any issues with that though. Maybe a reboot once a month but it was starting to struggle more with the sheer amount of devices on the network.
I also trialled the newer 752 Orbi system but found that roaming devices would tend to hang off the main router rather than switch to satellite. Band steering had been removed from the options. So devices were hanging on to 2.4ghz rather than 5. So that went back.
I’ve also got a full Meraki setup, but don’t use it much as I’ve only got a single AP which doesn’t give enough range. Shame because that’s usually bulletproof
Hopefully my stability issues will stop because it’s a decent system when it works!

January 24, 2022 at 11:11 am #17344I’m on BT GFAST with the superhub 2
Hopefully you mean Smart Hub 2 – Supehub is Virgin ?
As you say, Smart hub does not support Bridge-Mode so you are stuck unless you replace with say the Draytek vigor 166 which supports G.fast – cost around £100 on Ebay
As you are not using a modem in bridge mode, this may explain why your experience is different from others and if you game, hopefully you still have NAT type 1 or 2 (I forget which one for PS) OPEN if it was Xbox
Also, if you are a keen gamer (or someone is in your house is) then you definitely need to consider ditching the Smart Hub

January 24, 2022 at 12:28 pm #17345I was so glad to be able to get FTTP broadband and connect direct from the ONT to a router of my choice. I was with EE for FTTC, but the hub was identical and just as limited.
