July 6, 2023 at 7:43 pm #25689July 7, 2023 at 7:09 pm #25704So I can now update tariff info etc BUT it just says uh-oh no data found. I’ve just msg them as its been almost 48hrs now so not sure why.
On plus side it is showing a charge for standing charge but that’s all and I’ve turned off Gas as only have Elec smart meter so wont get Gas. I selected both when signing up incase it just gave me Elec and then I’d have to somehow add Gas later on if i ever switch that to a smart meter.
Waiting reply.

Sounding like the Hugo smart meter app is becoming more trouble than benefit ?

July 9, 2023 at 7:15 pm #25744hmm so got a email back saying they have been unable to get the data and then advising it possible needs a restart or upgrade etc….. They also mentioned if its a certain type of SMETS1 then there is known issues.
Mine is SMETS2 and Energy provider can get the readings (and it wasn’t fitted by them) so bit puzzled why they can’t get the data….
They have given me a email I can send them but will view that later and see what it says.
Thanks

July 10, 2023 at 7:46 pm #25748Hi,
So last night, I suddenly got a message saying they have my data and sure enough when I go into the app, my data is showing…..
Not sure why they said they couldn’t get it or why they suggested sending email to provider (which was a bit strong worded to be honest) but the data now shows up.
Have to wait and see if it continues to show…

July 10, 2023 at 8:05 pm #25749How much is the Hugo smart meter app and does it work directly from you mobile device, no matter where you are in the country ?

July 10, 2023 at 9:46 pm #25752App is free, works from anywhere. Its not realtime info, its only info that’s pulled from meter, not sure on the frequency, might be the same as what provider does.
Its free to sign up, you need to provide either card info to confirm you live at address OR provide a copy of a bill. I did card as was recommended option as fastest way. I guess the bill someone has to verify independently?

July 11, 2023 at 8:47 am #25754Free is always a nice bonus, I assume you can (once working correctly) you just get the volume you have consumed and then it coverts that to a ÂŁ value, or does that option require a paid version for Hugo ?

July 11, 2023 at 11:57 am #25756Anyone on octopus can sign up and request a home mini for free: https://octopus.energy/blog/octopus-home-mini/
It’s a little device you plug in and it reads real-time info from your smart meter and displays it in the octopus app, instead of the more infrequent data they get from the meter via dcc.
I’ve found mine quite helpful. They have a number of good schemes running at no cost. Last winter I borrowed a thermal camera from them for a few days to go around and find cold/uninsulated spots around the house. They should open signups for that back up nearer the winter too.

July 11, 2023 at 6:14 pm #25763Thanks for this, I just watched the below Youtube video explaining the Octopus Home mini, apart from the colour
what a great little device which also after you have scanned QR code adds to the Octopus App a Live tab which shows live power (electric) consumption and what was used say 20 minutes ago.As far as I could tell, the Octopus Home enables you to see your electricity consumption and what you’re spending in near real-time and your gas every 30 minutes.

July 11, 2023 at 7:19 pm #25764Indeed it’s a great device, I don’t mind the colour so much as I have it plugged in inside a cupboard so it’s hidden away :)
It has helped a lot during the times when my meters just fail to send the data through the dcc network and they’ve gotten the data from the home mini anyway. You get the live data but also helps build up a better picture over time with the added granular detail. Essentially moves some IHD functions into the app.
kudos to octopus for engineering around some of the bizarre smart metering limitations
