Exactly as I supposed it to be.

Dont read SNB anymore so I dont know whether GNUton got it with AimeshRE over LAN backhaul in the meantime.

June 16, 2020 at 4:43 pm #8062Now I am confused just did a search and got this link where it says and I quote “Latest stock firmware introduces Aimesh-NODE support as child over LAN on DSL-AC68U.
So it is possible now to reuse this modemrouter as Aimesh node with Wifi AND LAN backhaul!”You need to login in order to vote
June 16, 2020 at 4:56 pm #8064If you look at the ASUS official download servers, that description (changelog) is not mentioned.
option may have been removed etc.

But give it a go and let us know what happens

June 16, 2020 at 5:13 pm #8065I wrote the infos from here (that LAN-child mode is supported) in snb-forum caused on this reply.
Later it has been reverted to be not stable, but in the meantime they should have solved this issue.
Or corona infected their firmwares

Edit: Being serious for a moment, officially ASUS support DSL-AC68U (RE) via Wireless only.
I cannot recall, but if you set up your two DSl-AC68U one as Master (CAP), the other as Child (RE) via wifi then there maybe a way to then change RE interface to Ethernet (LAN 1) and establish a new AiMesh relationship etc.
A little tricky and (not supported by ASUS) but may work ?
