Weird that the latest update isn’t shown when you check via the router interface, but is via the Asus app!
Is your XT8 hardware version 1 ?
It has installed it, so I assume so!

Noticed this morning that the mesh was back to 2.4GHz backhaul (even though I have turned off DFS channels on the backhaul and limited to 80MHz) and then the Internet stopped working (perhaps because I’d logged in?), and shortly after the connection went. No chance to see what had happened to the available RAM, but after a few minutes it restarted and now back to 131MB free.
I power cycled the mesh to get it to reconnect at 5GHz.
Why can’t Asus implement something in the code to try and reconnect to 5GHz without the need for a reboot? Optimising doesn’t do anything to fix it, and I don’t think it ever has.
The only things connected this morning to the mesh node is my son’s Xbox and some security cameras at the front of the house. That’s really not under any load, so it has to be the main router.
Edit: Having had issues for so long, but not wanting to schedule a reboot on the router (as it messes up connections to the USB drive) I have now put a smart plug on the mesh node and scheduled just the mesh to reboot once per day – around 5am – by turning it off for one minute.

Installed the latest beta and now sitting with 161MB free. Let’s see how things pan out…
One thing to note is that my USB flash drive was red before, and failed the health scan. Drive appeared fine and it seems the error is RAM related. I’ve just noticed the flash drive is no longer red – and the health scan worked fine.

I only use ‘Time Scheduling’
That does make sense and hopefully @jonathanmorris can verify whether Trend Services actually works on the new XT8 beta Version 9.0.0.4.388.21101
It’s all enabled but can’t easily tell if it is working or not. No error messages or anything, and nothing filtered/detected all week (so since before I installed the beta).

I’m about 100 miles from home on a train, but on the Asus app it still shows the family/parental controls. Can’t really check anything else easily until I’m home.

MD5: 047808bccd6a1cd2cd16238e367c9c2a New beta released, any ideas if this includes the fixes in the offline beta you shared? https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/ZenWiFi_XT8/FW_ZENWIFI_XT8_900438821101.zip
Another sucker for punishment, I installed this just now and it’s showing 162MB of free RAM – so about twice as much as before.
Mesh node is connected too!

Perhaps this is RAM related?!
How much free RAM do you have currently? Mine is now 115MB. If it keeps reducing I’ll revert to previous FW.
I have 90-91MB free right now.

I’ve not checked RAM usage and didn’t really check before, so wouldn’t know if there was a big discrepancy – but I have experienced a few occasions now where I’ve been told that I’ve gone offline (for a period of 20-30 seconds). I have fibre broadband which has always been rock solid, but it could be the ISP end I suppose.
What is definitely the router though is that I’ve had to hard reboot the main router (using power switch) as my mobile devices have suddenly been unable to connect, and when they did it was at a vastly reduced signal strength (suggesting I was connecting to the mesh node). Next time I’ll test that theory by walking nearer to the mesh to see if the signal improves.
If so, that would imply an issue with 5GHz-1 only, as the backhaul must be working to let me connect to the mesh node and get connectivity. Ethernet from the main router was fine.
Upon rebooting, everything returns to normal.
I will keep an eye on this, but it has happened on earlier firmware – so it’s more a case of hoping this remains a very rare occurrence.

I changed a setting to use HTTPS only, and it meant the IP address didn’t work without adding :8443. It wasn’t firmware update related, so I removed my message that implied it was down to the update.
So far all is good!

Just checked again, and it’s now at 160MHz. Must have taken a while to ‘shift up’.

(Looking at the connect time, it seems it switched about 15 minutes after I posted)
Will now have to see how long it remains like this, or if it drops to 80, or indeed drops to 2.4GHz.
(I am 10.25 miles from Luton Airport, as the crow flies)

Don’t know what has happened, but I cannot connect at 5GHz-2 at all anymore, not at 160, 80 or even 20/40/80.
Update: Did a full power off, and waited, and rebooted and it’s back now at 80MHz. So, I think it’s safe to say I won’t be trying 160MHz again for a while.
