Have you flashed it with RMerlins firmware yet? well worth it if you get the chance. https://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/
Not yet, might give it a try over the weekend. Is there a stable build available, have you tested?

Enjoy ? – just keep in mind, try to buy a non Chinese version i.e. not from Gearbest etc, as these do have Language problems when used outside China, Forum Member @grisu has ranted heavily about this on my old forum.
I saw them, if it’s cheaper it’s usually too good to be true. I bought an AC86U from scan.co.uk, first order I placed with them since 2006 lol.

November 5, 2018 at 10:50 pm in reply to: RT-AC87U I recently won this fairly cheap on eBay, I wanted to get another ASUS router having owned the N66U, AC68U variants. I see it does not have AI Mesh support... #1366I think i’ll return this one and get that, even though its a little more expensive it seem the better choice.

I wish I had checked with you first lol, I was looking at the AC86U but that was out of my budget.

Thanks, from those settings, you are on 100Mbps ?
Hello. Yes I had changed that to 300mbps, I had done that after i took the screenshot. I ran a few tests and on my PC which has one of these. https://www.asus.com/uk/Networking/PCE-AC55BT/
Speeds were just over 300mbps down and 60mbps up which is what i expected, but using a direct connection with ethernet its under 40mbps download and around 60mbps upload?

@retired account – did you manage to get the Fritz!Box working and if so, did you have any issues with VLAN (802.1q) ? was it needed?
Hi. I have just switched over to the 3490 today, It’s working with out inputting the VLAN ID but speeds are all over the place? Maybe I have done something wrong?
I put in username as bthomehub@btbroadband.com
Password was left blank
I had to manually put in the download speeds (see attached screens)

First time plugging the Home Hub in, ran a quick speed test. At least there is some internet there, I have not moved in yet. When I do the FRITZ! Box gets plugged back in :)

Haha no I did not build it! FTTP is available as our next door neighbour has it, the new house has not been enabled at the cabinet yet that’s what BT told me. I am waiting for a response from Openreach as the sooner its online then I can place a new order, think I may go for Zen Internet for my ISP.

Update from my home move, Plusnet cannot offer me FTTP so my contract will end at the start of November. Now I need to try and find another provider, the only thing is that my new house is not showing on the DSL checker yet or BT’s website. :(

I am also with PlusNet VDSL, so will be interesting to see how yours progresses?
I’ll keep you updated, thanks

Yeah it seems to be ok, i have done a factory reset so just reconfiguring it at the moment. I will be moving into a new build property soon which has FTTP, just waiting to see if Plusnet can offer it.
FTTP, posh hey! I thought PlusNet was still Trailing FTTP, so will be interesting if you have access to it via PlusNet?
The guy i spoke to said they are going to send someone out to do a survey, he said that he thinks its unlikely they will be able to offer it. If they cannot I can leave contract early no fees, but if they can offer it there is a one off fee to pay of about £100 or waive that and have a longer contract.
Still have not heard back from them yet!
