;-) are you going to flash it with RMerlin firmware, be careful as RMerlin firmware’s does not support AiMesh , only stock ASUSWRT does

September 29, 2018 at 7:45 am #901Enjoy your new toy and do not forget to disable AirTime Fairness on wifi, this should provide greater wifi connection stability.

September 29, 2018 at 5:57 pm #911Will I be able to access my Draytek Modem via its UI behind this router without the Merlin FW?

Yes, should require no further setting up. (I believe)
Edit: They key is to ensure both Modem and ROUTER are on different IP subnets, I believe the DrayTeK comes figured with the IP address http://192.168.2.1 and the ASUS DSL-AC86U is http://192.168.50.1 which is all that is needed.

September 30, 2018 at 9:19 am #917September 30, 2018 at 9:47 am #918With RMerlin Firmware, ASUSWRT-Merlin support Full Cone NAT and is ideal at supporting multiple Xbox’s / PS etc in OPEN NAT /Nat Type 1
With ASUS stock Firmware, their NAT is of the Symmetric NAT type, which has its challenges, but from when I used it last, as long as you enable UPnP then this has worked well in the past for multiple Xbox’s (for myself)
Key I think is not to assign devices, there unique IP addresses and let router handle all that via DHCP etc.

September 30, 2018 at 5:59 pm #940October 1, 2018 at 6:52 pm #964My old rt ac66u use to log what time clients connected to the router in the system log, the 86u is not doing this, I have checked if I have to tell it to do this but can’t find anything anywhere in the settings.

October 1, 2018 at 7:06 pm #965Was your RT-AC66u running RMerlin firmware ? I assume you are running upto date firmware for your RT-AC86U? (Version 3.0.0.4.384.32799 )
