I don’t think you can use Ai protection properly on DSL-AC88U, well actually not many things can be turn on, wi-fi settings need to be tweaked for wi fi to working, the only working bit on it is modem.

Asus know about all issues, but looks like they don’t really care about this model. They just proof that they can’t make properly modem-router(or at least software for it) , luckily for they routers is available custom fw.

    I know that @Uk Sentinel use dsl-ac88u properly πŸ˜…πŸ˜‰

Mine isn’t too bad. Wifi works. Since its marathon 120+ days up it’s been falling down more frequently (every few weeks for the last month) – the router appears to be working but everything becomes inaccessible. So I reboot it and it’s fine again. 2ghz wireless sometimes isn’t working when it reboots so I disable/enable and it’s fine. I can cope with this for the time being (I only use 2ghz for the printer anyway). I see they still go for up to Β£120 on ebay so I’ve considered selling it on, but wouldn’t that be a bit mean? Plus I’m not sure I can afford the effort involved in getting another set up to do what this one is doing. I suppose I’m not trying to do anything too complex – straight internet & torrents/streaming from usbs so whilst I’m not especially happy with Asus for springing this on me, I can live with the router for a while. I probably won’t be living with another Asus one after this though.

Mine’s been rock solid since I’ve offloaded DNS to a PiHole. There’s definitely a DNS bug in there which may be the cause of the lockups.

Do you think the mu-mimo feature is included in the firmware update?
I will own the cat and I want it to see this firmware update before it dies.

I’m going to have to find out about DNS to PiHole when I get a bit of free time. If the locking up of the router was sorted I’d have no issues to speak of.

Β  is correct I believe, the DNS is one of a few issues.

asus say me today that no new firmware in the future

I knew some of this around Xmas, but had hoped to change there minds, last communication I had with was if they did not support the DSL-AC88U with future firmware’s, then I would no longer assist them in any way.

I have emailed for final decision, but this does not look good for DSL-AC88U owners and very unprofessional
