May 10, 2020 at 11:08 am #7146Having some trouble modifying the dnsmasq settings.
How would you go about adding a rebind-domain-ok permanently to dnsmasq.conf, it overwrites on reboot.

May 10, 2020 at 11:28 am #7147Hopefully @CHR7 managed to do this and CAN give some guidance
BTW – how far did you get with adding a rebind-domain-ok permanently to dnsmasq.conf ? did change work, just fails when router is rebooted ?
What cmd’s did you enter etc. as I can always have a chat with ASUS if needed ?

ASUS have not released a firmware update for 18 months, no feedback from ASUS to the general public and its customers.
FYI – On the Whirlpool forum, an ASUS Supplier/Rep/employee (Jack) when asked many times on that forum regarding DSL-AC88U and DSL-AC3100 never ever ever ever ever ever (you get the idea) responds, but he does respond to other ASUS question.
R.I.P.

May 25, 2020 at 12:21 pm #7622Hi UK Sentinel,
As per some other user requests would it be possible to share a firmware with telnet/ssh enabled please? I have the latest DSL-AC88U (a device I regret purchasing) firmware.
Thank you.

Thanks for the quick reply, it is really sad that this is happening…

I regret buying it too :( Will be stuck with it for a few years to come too…
What are you guys doing with the telnet firmware ?
Also any tips on having this unit randomly stop running because of DHCP bug ? It is not reliable at all, like I’n only using it as a WAN device, otherwise I would have to restart it every few days and tank my DSL speed.
Edit: DHCP bug happens whether on WAN or DSL mode.

May 25, 2020 at 9:53 pm #7660I am using the latest version, This one 1.10.06_Build591
For wifi is worth change “Group Key Rotation Interval” to 86400
Just changed it, how helpful is this ? :D
What I meant by the DHCP bug is that the whole modem becomes inaccessible, can’t navigate to it with the browser and every device connected to it basically loses internet connection.

Technically, that is not a “DHCP” bug. That’s due to the unit locking up, either due to the memory leak, or a DNS bug.
If you don’t require any of the features of the new builds, go back to FW503. I was able to get 149 days of uptime, until there was a power outage in my area.

May 26, 2020 at 6:22 am #7664@TODO – usually the DSL side on the DSL-AC88U was stable, just memory leaks and DHCP issues was faulty, the Group Key Rotation Interval” to 86400 helped with DHCP (wifi) and if this fails, maybe worth reverting back to a previous firmware version as @Jetspeed advises.
Also try googles DNS as this is stable and hopefully you are using IPv4 as IPv6 for this model was never fixed.
