Very interesting and PC related. âwake on magic packetâ and âwake on pattern matchâ is interesting, was this option also enabled for 2.4GHz or is it at adaptor level this value is set at ?
Edit: ignore, just checked and this is an pc adapter level option

March 13, 2023 at 10:45 am #23014Just wondering what’s everyones thoughts on running Merlin on the DSL-AX82U? I note there is an offshoot that supports the DSL version. Worth it?

@GNUton builds are good as they leverage all the additional features ASUSWRT-Merlin builds incorporates., I tend to think along these lines, if the Stock ASUSWRT firmware offers me what I need, and I cannot see any additional services / features / benefits offered by ASUSWRT-Merlin that I could make of use, then little point in using another build.
But if you like to tinker, then @GNUton builds are perfect for that

March 13, 2023 at 11:40 am #23016They even implement bugfixes or better solutions of some features to AsusWRT.
So I would recommend to use them even if you dont need additional features.You need to login in order to vote

April 9, 2023 at 7:06 pm #23660Annex A and Annex B settings are applicable to hardware and ADSL. Annex modes are not valid for VDSL. Those who tell you to choose Annex A for VDSL seem to mislead you as they are not knowledgeable about the subject. For VDSL, upload and download channels are set as the operator wishes, and you cannot change this.
The operator (Turk Telekom) can allocate more download bandwidth to subscribers who are given less upload speed, or the download and upload channels of a 16 Mbps package user and a 100 Mbps package user are not the same. DSL-AX82U or other brand modems automatically comply with this.

Annexes mean very different things for ADSL and VDSL, it is not anymore POTS vs. ISDN support like on old lines.
So there are even other Annexes which could be taken like M or J, but it is handled by DSLAM and your modem and could change with each sync.You need to login in order to vote
April 10, 2023 at 11:13 am #23666Does anybody have any experience with the DSL-AX82U and AiMesh? Mainly as the gateway/main node with something like a TUF-AX5400 as a satellite? Any recommended configs that work ok? I hear alot of horror stories with AiMesh so I am thinking of going Eero.

Does seem that ASUS have dropped System Log – DSL Log from ‘Regional Mode’ to ‘ANNEX Mode’ for naming convention.
Advanced Settings > System Log > DSL Log
Annex Mode:
POTS = Annex A
ISDN = Annex B
Advanced Settings > Administration > DSL Settings
Annex Mode:
ADSL Settings = Annex A, A/L, A/M and A/L/M
VDSL Settings = ANNEX A/B

AiMesh, especially around ASUS XT8 etc. did not work well for a long while with AiMesh, that was mainly due to ASUS introducing next generation of firmware, 388 builds, where as prior to that, the later 386 builds had worked well.
The 388 builds have settled down from an Aimesh perspective, but there are still issues I think with ASUS ET12 etc.
DSL-AX82U I had working with AiMesh for a couple of days (testing) all seemed stable.

It appears that way, but that information is not accurate.

Also tried it with my RT-ac86u and this worked also as Aimesh node
