Forgot to say, this was using the @GNUton build for the DSL -AX82u not that this should make any difference from an AiMesh perspective ;)

April 10, 2023 at 12:59 pm #23675i used asus dsl n16 before so i sold it because the snr didn’t work properly but asus dsl n16 ta vdsl2 let me choose anything like Annex A or Annex B. or airties 5650 also let me choose Annex A or Annex
I just bought DSL-AX82U and installed the first fw merlin 388 mast directly, I am really satisfied.
I’m not having a problem right now, but is the Annex A or Annex B selection event complete?

Not sure what you mean ?
The DSL-N16 uses MediaTek for its CPU, which is very good for options on ADSL.
DSL-AX82U uses Broadcom for its CPU, so less options (Annex A or B) but still good, stable especially with VDSL

April 21, 2023 at 1:31 pm #23859I’ve been having some strange issues with this router since the last update and I can’t help but think it’s the new dsl driver in the latest version.
My speed has been slowly decreasing over time, currently synced at 54mbps. I had openreach over to check the line and they confirmed when they plug their tester into the dsl cable they get 64mbps, so something to do with the router.
I plugged in an old ISP router I had buried away, and that synced at almost 63.
I guess I will try and go back to the old firmware and see what happens. In the current release notes it says it uses the new driver ‘by default’, is it possible to select to use the old driver whilst keeping the new firmware then? I’d like to not lose the other enhancements in the current version.

April 21, 2023 at 1:59 pm #23864I seem to remember somebody else mentioning about the latest driver for the DSL-AX82U causing them sync rate issues with this latest firmware release.
Also, check to make sure you are not experiencing high CRC’s or FEC’s etc ?

April 21, 2023 at 11:02 pm #23871Just to be clear you do mean 3.0.0.4.388_22048? (2022/12/29)
It was fine in holding sync for me although I was on a slower FTTC tier with BT.
Some screenshots I saved:
One after 16 hours then another after 2 days had passed.
As Sentinel says, how are CRC and FEC looking?

April 22, 2023 at 3:29 pm #23881Over the past 14 hours
FEC: 1447
HEC: 0
CRC: 6
ES: 4
SES: 0
I think these stats are pretty good? Just seems really odd that their tester reads a lot higher (and that wasn’t even directly into the socket, they tested via the dsl cable by plugging the end that is in the ASUS into their tester) and the old isp router also synced higher, just this ASUS one seems to be struggling a bit

Stats a very good considering, definitely worth trying a downgrade on firmware, to test older driver and see if that makes any difference

There is no backward compatibility issue with DSL, but there are compatibility issues with some devices on WIFI. For example, my old phone cannot connect at 80 MHz 2×2, so I am using 433 Mbps instead of 866 Mbps.

July 7, 2023 at 12:29 pm #25702Haven’t seen those for a while, usually they are related to a device interacting with the UPNP server maybe media on you DSL-AX82U.
Alas only way to tell is understand when the logs started showing these massages and if this correlates with a device on you network being turned on (NAS) etc.
Alternatively, if logs are being created all the time, you will have to turn off individual devices on your LAN and see if logs are still being created etc.

Flashed it on day of release and so far its excellent.
There is just one problem and that is LED bug.
When router renews IP address Online LED is still off but all is fine and fully works.
Current fix is to login via App or WebGUI and toggle LED On/OffI reported this issue to Asus via WebGUI maybe they will find a permanent fix.
