Ohh well 😝
Not really fancy to flash fw which may brake down great performance 😅
I’m finally happy with my setup, maybe if I got spare time I will look to play with different modem 😉
@Uk Sentinel
Can you report to Asus that issue with PMF, I’m pretty sure they will see your email faster than mine and hopefully they will consider content of it.

December 22, 2019 at 9:09 am #5547It is on my list, just need to find another RT-AX88U using stock ASUSWRT, to find if issue is ASUSWRT or RMerlin firmware. before I feedback to ASUS.
Good job guys ;-)

December 22, 2019 at 9:20 am #5548If is not super urgent I could do more tests after new year (even on stock fw) , I got some time off in first week in January. Happy to help, especially where this maybe helpful in future.

December 22, 2019 at 11:13 am #5550December 22, 2019 at 6:49 pm #5551Problems are with stock firmware, thats why Merlin didn’t use last 2 stock in his latest build, they are not stable, especially WiFi speeds only half or going down to nothing.
Happy Brexmess!

today i have tested ASUS Stock 3.0.0.4.384.6436 where i was unable to disable PMF even after selecting disable and apply it reverts back to capable
@Grisu – yes your right , issue’s are with stock firmwarei really hope asus will provide stable firmware next year

Thanks @XRW
Do you know if there is same issue with latest official fw from Asus?
Forgot to mention, once PMF disabled I don’t have ping jumps anymore on my pc, tested on two different modems (zyxel VMG1312-B10A, and old eci unlocked).

December 28, 2019 at 2:50 pm #5585on latest ASUS 3.0.0.4.384_7968 you can disable PMF and other options :)
but on 3.0.0.4.384_7968 , there is a issue with QOS Bandwidth limiter .. where on Wi-Fi upload is not limited by QOS :)
what’s your buffer bloat result ? ( wifi and hardwired )
you can check on

December 28, 2019 at 4:41 pm #5586Hi @XRW,
I don’t really use wired connection, router is downstairs and all devices are connected wireless.
I didn’t set QOS on mine for now, was testing but wasn’t much difference, that was before I disabled PMF, since then didn’t played with it.
Attached booth test results.

December 29, 2019 at 3:10 am #5589u have bloat of 50ms as per fast.com ( FAST.com provides two different latency measurements for your Internet connection: “unloaded” and “loaded” with traffic. The difference between these two measurements is also called “bufferbloat”. ) …
you can know about buffer bloat – https://www.bufferbloat.net/projects/bloat/wiki/Introduction/
Merlin Frimware have better QoS Queue Disciplines built in like -> fq_codel
but since you don’t use QOS ..you can try ASUS stock

December 29, 2019 at 3:27 am #5590Well I actually played with QOS settings yesterday and didn’t see much improvement with adaptive QOS so switched to the traditional with bandwidth limit 68Mb/s for download and 17Mb/s for upload and when I tested on my pc unloaded was 9ms and loaded was 15ms, so I guess is not bad now. Will test later in game to see if it’s better.

December 29, 2019 at 3:40 am #5591unloaded 9ms and loaded 15ms = bloat of 6ms , that’s far great compared to 50ms
( lets say your playing games or doing latency sensitive work …. during that time .. somebody starts downloading or uploading photos or videos or watching netflix .. with QOS on you will see increase of 6ms+ with QOS off you will see increase of 50ms+ depending on load … through i can be wrong testing is only way to be sure :D )
