ASUS ZenWiFi AX Whole Home Tri-Band Mesh WiFi 6 System Not sure if this is the right place to ask…. I am thinking of upgrading my Google Mesh wifi to the above. Has anyone used this and does it...

Apparently FW 49873 added support for new UNII-4 band on the XT8.

From what I have read it is something to do with 5GHz-2 antenna which adds additional bands.

Any ideas what this is?  Which bands these are and how to select them?

Looks like it is region specific to US and the firmware will only enable based on region.

I tried finding more info and if UK will support this.  No idea what UNII-4 bands are.

Will be interesting to see what Asus say.

This relatively new standard is nothing to be excited about and mainly benefits US and India I believe.

So have ASUS have come back and said regarding 5.9G UNII4 band.

• XT9, XT12 and GT6 will also support this.
• 5.9G UNII4 is not approved in EU/UK yet

I changed a setting to use HTTPS only, and it meant the IP address didn’t work without adding :8443. It wasn’t firmware update related, so I removed my message that implied it was down to the update.

So far all is good!
