@DodgyDrains – with the offline betaย I shared with yourself, can you recall if you TrendMicro services worked, I know you said parental controls, but did that also include Trend services ?
If so, I will release the offline beta you have used as this is getting silly (hence why I try to stick with the DSL side of ASUS)

October 28, 2022 at 3:44 pm #21449I’m about 100 miles from home on a train, but on the Asus app it still shows the family/parental controls. Can’t really check anything else easily until I’m home.

That would be great if you can check that when you arrive home and have time.

I only use the Parental Control which worked on the offline beta and is working on the online beta too.

October 28, 2022 at 8:10 pm #21454Free RAM is sitting at 166MB and is going down by 10 MB each day like the offline beta did too.ย For me the offline and online beta are acting the same so far.ย Let’s see if any lockups afer 4/5 days uptime.

Did that include ‘Web & Apps Filters’ usage or just Time Scheduling’ ?

That does make sense and hopefully @jonathanmorris can verify whether Trend Services actually works on the new XT8 beta Version 9.0.0.4.388.21101

It’s all enabled but can’t easily tell if it is working or not. No error messages or anything, and nothing filtered/detected all week (so since before I installed the beta).

October 29, 2022 at 6:32 am #21460If you have time, note sure how you currently perform any content analysis, (you may not need it)
But to check if Trend Content filtering works, go to General > AiProtection > Parental Controls > Web & Apps Filters
– Select ON slide button, then from the Client Name (MAC Address) select a Device and then select Adult.
Then click Content Category ‘+’ button and then click the Apply button andย log out of XT8 UI.
Then after a few minutes try to access a betting website and see if you are blocked access .
I tried ‘www.betfred.com’ and this site was blocked

October 29, 2022 at 11:55 am #21473I’ll tell you an absurd story that happened to me in my parents’ house where I use 4 XT8.
It is not something that has to do directly with the asus router, but it is really “special” and shows how networks are really subject to the strangest unexpected events.
Long story short, a few days ago I see that all the IoT devices I have at home (mostly wifi sockets and cameras) are offline.
I check and I see that the 2.4Ghz band doesn’t work anymore! I try to reset, reconfigure, change firmware, but nothing … the 2.4 network is gone (the router tells me that it is active instead)
Then I take one of the other 3 nodes and reconfigure it as a router … and nothing, even the 2.4Ghz does not work at that! Yet as a node I detected it, until a few hours before.
Then I understand that it does not depend on the router, and I get the idea that there may be an interference. I check the wifi sockets near the router and I discover that one (classic amazon china) is broken, in the sense that it is very hot and the LED is off. As soon as I unplugged it, the 2.4Ghz line started working again without any problem!
Absurd how a wifi socket manages to completely haywire a router! You need to login in order to vote
October 29, 2022 at 12:42 pm #21474Great story – maybe massive 2.4Ghz wifi interference from faultyย wifi socket – yes technology is very unpredictable ๐

October 29, 2022 at 7:49 pm #21481Well I test drove the beta 21101 fw for a few days, but it has itโs problems.
I use the TrendMicro systems, but as this didnโt function correctly with the 21101 beta fw, I rolled back to the 21099 fw.
Initially TrendMicro systems were still off-line on the 21099 fw,
but a factory reset brought all TrendMicro services back on-line, so at least I have web history back again, free ram is down to 94% already, but the 21099 fw is the lesser of 2 evils.
I had been undecided if to roll back away from this beta, or to see how the free ram plays out a little bit longer, but as some web pages were slow to load & a bit erratic this morning, a rollback it was.
my initial thought had been that the router had bombed-out on the beta fw,
I managed a whopping 2.3Mbs download out of my 80/20 line.
As the TrendMicro systems came back online the cause of my poor download speed appeared,
1 of my kids on her desktop was maxing out the bandwidth with a large download,
between a flaky beta causing issues & kids being awake enough to function at 8.30am on a Saturday morning Iโd point the finger at the beta fw every time๐
Until now that is ๐

November 2, 2022 at 10:35 am #21505For my use case, the online beta has been as stable as the offline beta that @UKSentinel shared with me.ย Nearly 6 days uptime and free RAM is at 92MB.
