Anyone heard of this brand washing machine?
https://www.haier-europe.com/en_GB/washing-machines/31018779/hw100b14959s8u1u/
I was thinking of buying this, they said on the phone it is £479 with an additional £50 cashback.
Is this a well known company? I have seen some good reviews online but haven’t used a washing machine from this manufacturer before.

October 19, 2023 at 8:52 pm #27636Chinese and averidge at best, when I purchased our Samsung washing machine a couple of years ago, I looked at Haier and others.
Miele if you can afford them, Bosch, LG and Samsung are good and then there is Ebac, which is British made and owned and also AEG are good.
Cheap and cheerful brands like Candy (Chinese Parent Owner) or Beko (Turkish owner) rate well, but are basic but functional and great on a tight budget.
Only have practical experience of Samsung and Bosch over the last few years and both brands customer services (repairs) where very good.
Yes I know, if I had to call customer services, brands cannot be that good

November 9, 2023 at 6:16 pm #27950As my budget was pretty tight, I ended up buying the Haier I-Pro Series 5 (10kg capacity). It came with a total of 10 years warranty (after registration).
So far, cannot fault it and customer service was suprisingly good.
The installer messed up the installation and did not connect the water correctly, nearly flooded my kitchen. Called my relative who fixed that quite easily.
First impressions – It is very quiet compared to my old one. All I hear is a whooshing noise as it spins (not very technical analysis, I know
)Now just waiting for my £50 cashback.

November 9, 2023 at 7:40 pm #27953Congrats on your new purchase and wet floor, such fun

Haier like so many other washing machines are built to a price and will be an interesting exercise to see how your Haier I-Pro Series 5 lasts in terms of reliability and durability ?
10 year warranty sounds interesting, is that 10 years for everything or motor parts only after say 3 years.
My Sumsung washing machine warranty entails: (I got a deal at the time)
- 5 years parts and labour warranty (normally 2 years I believe)
- 10 years of coverage on the washing DD motor parts only

November 9, 2023 at 9:03 pm #27955This is what was on the blurb:
10-year parts guarantee:
Haier offers 10-year Parts guarantee for all home appliances from the date of purchase.
During the first five years Haier approved engineers will replace all defective parts free of charge, except for parts subject to fair wear and tear, such as interior lamps.
In years 6-10 replacement parts will be supplied free only if fitted in the UK or the Republic of Ireland by Haier and the appropriate labour charges paid (Haier Fixed Price Repairs Out of 60 Month guarantee period).
The guarantee does not cover accidental damage, loss or damage arising from the breakdown of the product.

November 9, 2023 at 9:30 pm #27956Sounds slightly better than the Samsung equivalent in that they (Haier) are happy to supply parts beyond 5 years and you incur labour charges etc.
How intuitive is the Haier app ?

I was also pleasantly surprised with the warranty too. Took a chance mainly because of this. I think Haier own Candy and Hoover too?
The app is quite easy to use and intuitive. I still use the onboard screen/knob. Too old school to move away from that.
The app was quite easy to set up and has a lot of useful settings. Not sure I will use it much, but handy that I can use it should I want to.

It’s been working flawlessly for me.
The washing machine is extremely quiet, even during the spin cycles.
If I had to come up with a negative (this would be a nit pick) the touch screen can be very sensitive. Couple of times washing machine turned off with just a brush of clothes on the screen whilst walking past it to grab something nearby.
I am well pleased with it, plus it was not very expensive. The £50 cashback came through after a slight hitch with providing an invoice. The cashback seems to be run by a third party, not Haier directly. Buying directly from Haier meant there was no PDF invoice, just the email confirmations. Eventually worked after contacting Haier for assistance.

June 29, 2024 at 7:46 pm #32672Great news and good to hear positive feedback. We used to have a dishwasher like that, walk past and gently brush against it accidentally turned it off.
£479 with an additional £50 cashback well spent

June 29, 2024 at 8:04 pm #32674The middle hob on my Beko 5 burner Gas Hob broke, and is well outside the warranty period (12 years now, I think).
Purchased this new one directly from Samsung for £209 via perksatwork (the company I work for partners with them to give staff discounts with major online retailers).
Samsung 5 Burner Gas Hob NA75J3030AS | Samsung UK
I used the £50 voucher I received from Samsung when buying the S24 Ultra during launch.
Delivery was delayed by 2/3 days, I contacted Samsung CEO office who expedited delivery and then gave me another £30 voucher. Now just need to find a gas safe installer.
Ended up paying £159 and got another £30 voucher
