@black-bird – that is interesting – is this just modem related or do ASUS RT routers also have the ‘PADO and PADS packet timeout PPPoE connection is timed out’ problem in Turkey ?

Note: This used to an issue also with ASUS RT Routers with the PADO packet timeout problem, but thought that was fixed years ago.

As you said some years ago there are different dev-teams for RT and DSL, so most likely the patch didnt find its way to DSL or didnt survive more than one or few updates.
Often seen that already fixed problems reoccurred later on.

I didn’t have an ASUS RT model, so I don’t know about that.
All ASUS DSL models have this problem. That’s why I see people who have to use other DSL devices.

Feedback with “UK Sentinel”

Asus all DSL modems are struggling with PPPoE connectivity after a DSL outage and a longer PPPoE connection than other modems.
When I look at the system log PADO and PADS packet timeout PPPoE connection is timed out.
if possible, we request an update that fixes this problem for all modems (after a DSL outage to get new IP faster).

I don’t know if this may be an ISP problem, but other brand modems don’t have this problem, only Asus brand modems have this problem, I’m sure of it.

I created an DSL outage to send you a sample, and you can see it in the system log.

00:51:23 DSL: Link down -> up
00:55:38 pppd[22743]: Connect: ppp0 <–> wan0
00:55:39 pppd[22743]: PAP authentication succeeded

4 minutes passed after DSL connection and received IP

I nearly forgot – ASUS said they will look at both the DSL-AX82U and the DSL-AC52U with regards to the PADO packet timeout problem,

I got the feeling that this is not a priority for them at the moment, but we can all hope

If ASUS do decide to change anything, it will be for all DSL units except probable the DSL-AC88U, DSL-AC87VG and  DSL-AC68VG
