October 15, 2022 at 7:46 pm #21272I read that this release may have TX Power slider graphical glitch as well as other gui type bugs
factory reset is advised but most worrying is an RT-AX86U owner commented on PPPOE disconnects,
this is a 388 build so relatively new still ๐ค

October 16, 2022 at 10:08 am #21273Thanks, i saw one post re PPOE disconnects but seems people think its ok to update so I might hold of as don’t want internet connection issues..
What’s the 388 build? more than just the general updates? is it a new interface?
Thanks

October 16, 2022 at 10:30 am #21274Good question, New ย services and features etc. ย – I will ask ASUS the same question and get the exact answers directly from them as I know they are starting to use more Java based coding but do not wish to be miss quoted etc.

October 16, 2022 at 3:01 pm #21275Thanks, will look forward the Asus’s response :)
I saw your there post re the RT-AX86U Pro – doesn’t seem to be too much of a difference between the 2 models so don’t feel like I’m missing out :)
The RT-AX86U has so far been pretty good.ย Only issue has been with Sonos devices really which I’ve basically given up with as they just don’t seem to want to stay connected and are the first gen models which we know sonos are not really supporting now but I’m certainly not paying out for the newer versions, they cost a fair bit in the first place.
Other than that, its mostly been ok, updates have all completed with no issues.ย Think there was 1 update where the text changed in one view on the router but no real issue, it still worked and displayed info, it was fixed on subsequent release/update.
Not updated since Jan, seen some issues with the updates since then so I’ve stayed put.
That reminds me I must update another thread on here….

Ok, so I have had feedback from ASUS regarding generally what constitutes a build version change (386 – 388) etc.
I did not ask specifics between the two builds, as this is contained mainly with the changelogs etc.

December 1, 2022 at 11:40 am #21896Early reports for Version 3.0.0.4.388.21709 are showing that 5Ghz wifi is having issues, maybe DFS bug related ?

December 5, 2022 at 9:07 pm #21952Thanks, I saw this new version too and initially good reports but I’m seeing some people reporting issues, some are saying 5ghz is better others are saying it dropping…. looks like another update I’ll be skipping…. :( Shame as was hoping to update it at some point as not been updated for a while now..

December 8, 2022 at 7:43 pm #21964March 16, 2023 at 8:32 pm #23031Hi,
Just noticed there is a new firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.22525 for the RT-AX86U, any thoughts on this so far? I’m still running version 3.0.0.4.386_46061, which I’m sure I updated over a year ago so I’m hoping it will be ok to upgrade to the latest one (be it this version on another future release).
Thanks

The 22525 release seems to be popular amongst many ASUS router models and generally reading on different forums is that 22525 is a good release. Stability is good for Mesh systems as long as Smart Connect is disabled.
Be brave as feedback for others is most welcomed

March 17, 2023 at 9:18 pm #23041Thanks, I’ll check the Smart Connection option on my current router firmware (if it exists) as I can’t recall now if it is enabled or disabled on mine as I’ve basically not touched the config since I set it up other than when I was messing around trying to get my sonos to work which I gave up with in the end so I’ll check it and see and then give it a go.
My main concern is the heating is all on Nest now so I can’t have it keep dropping or anything as parents need to control it etc as its at parents house so need to make sure WIFI works as normal and nest works and smart plugs work etc, they are the main things.
Thanks

March 3, 2024 at 2:00 pm #31102Hi, anyone updated to the latest firmware 3.0.0.4.388_24231 and had any issues with TP-Link/Kasa smart plugs? I read on a different forum someone advised issues after they updated and I’m tempted to update but want to make sure the tp-link/kasa smart plugs will still work after. Been no update on the thread on a different site I saw, I’ve posted asking for update but no reply so far. I also have the older smart plugs, I believe they have newer (small square) ones now but not viable to replace them until they go faulty and I think I already have 1 or two spare.
