beta version goes well ONLY on the main router… if you use it on the nodes the aimesh network won’t work anymore (the node function is broken on beta)… I’m using, for now, 49873 on main router and 21099 on nodes…
That is exactly the problem I had, the beta on the nodes meant I could not create a mesh.
@UKSentinell, how do we put XT8 in recovery mode? In case I need to know in future? Is it to use pin in reset button hole and then power on the XT8?

Ok, so ASUS have given myself a new XT8 Firmware to resolve the issue they found with firmware – ASUS ZenWiFi AX – 3.0.0.4.388.21099 RT-AX95Q_3.0.0.4_388_21268-g64b557c_puresqubi.w (note, not normal ASUS Beta numbering format) RT-AX95Q_3.0.0.4_388_21268-g64b557c_puresqubi.w (38 downloads) I am happy for this particular firmware release to be shared to other Forums / XT8 owners and an ‘acknowledgement would be nice on respective Forums’ – this is a Beta Firmware, maybe untested, so Usual UKTH Terms and Conditions apply, (see top of Forum) Note: Firmware release 3.0.0.4.388.21099 has been pulled from download servers
I tried to update to this firmware but none of the nodes were creating a mesh network. Had to connect all xt8’s as router to downgrade FW individually to 49873 and get back up and running. No idea what I could have done wrong.

Thanks @UK Sentinel. Have Asus said to you what the problem was?
I have shared this in other forum and mentioned you.
As always, you are a star.

Thanks for letting us all know, I have chatted with ASUS and they are looking into this issue currently , I am wondering If the issue is multi node orientated or as your scenario suggests – more wifi clients orientated. As and when I have feedback from ASUS I will of course update this thread
@Raven and I both have the 4 xt8 setup that locked up after 4/5 days. Definitely looks like a multi node issue. You need to login in order to vote
Remind me, is this the latest stock release, and if so I can have a chat with ASUS
It was latest official firmware 3.0.0.4.388.21099

Did you notice the free RAM at the time ?
It was around 83 MB free. I think ASUS should pull this firmware version.

Just 5 minutes ago it locked up with the error out of memory (1560). I knew Asus would mess up with so many changes in one update.
I sent feedback to Asus few minutes before it locked up.

I have 90-91MB free right now.
Has your free RAM continued to reduce below 90-91MB or did it recover?

If you could that would be helpful<noscript>

‘/var/lib/misc/dnsmasq.leases: No space left on device (retry in 60s)‘ is more interesting, I assume you do not receive this particular log message also as you have sufficient free RAM ?I cannot see this message in my logs.

I will keep monitoring and see what happens. Hopefully it isn’t like the AC88U.
Others are saying their XT8 has locked up needing reboot, but not sure if related.
This was the error in their log.

Interesting and potentially good news, was you tinkering with the router at any point or just before and then logged back in at a later time and notice the free RAM increase ?
I don’t recall doing anything at all

Would be useful, when you hit around 30-40MB free, that when it should get interesting<noscript>

Not sure if I did something or just normal behaviour. Free RAM went up from 83 MB to 100 MB.

I have 90-91MB free right now.
I am now at 83 MB free. Lets see how low it goes and what happens

It was mentioned on another forum that the low free RAM is due to ‘Asus no longer dropping the cache when logging in to the UI’. Apparently this is something new on all ASUS firmware.
@UK Sentinell, are you aware of this or is this something you can ask your ASUS contact? Bit concerning if the RAM gets very low and locks up.

Perhaps this is RAM related?!
How much free RAM do you have currently? Mine is now 115MB. If it keeps reducing I’ll revert to previous FW.
