Thanks for that, I completed the whole setup using the app again.

I have completed this again, but this time using the following hard factory reset method rather than the pin reset I am used to:

This time, on setup it gave the option in the app to set SSID name and password for 2.4GHz, 5GHz-1 and most importantly 5GHz-2.  Previously 5GHz-2 was not an option.

You can also set different SSID and password for 2.4GHz, 5GHz-1 and 5GHz-2.  Again, previously 5GHz-2 was not an option.

It added _dwb to the end of the 5GHz-2 SSID but keeps the same password as the 2.4GHz and 5GHZ-1.

Not really sure what the 2 different reset methods actually do.

Thanks, I asked the same question another forum (not sure whether I can name it here??).  Someone there also confirmed same behaviour with the backhaul showing Open System.

When I first set it up out of the box the wireless name and password was a long string of numbers and letters.

After factory reset and completing setup from fresh again the wireless was Asus_10 (as per the screenshot).  I was able to connect and perform a full speedtest (450+mbps).  Seems like a bug?

I have now changed authentication method, entered password and set the SSID to hidden (it was hidden out of the box).  Set channel bandwidth to 160MHz.  Seems to be working fine with this set up.

Hide SSID: Yes

Channel bandwidth: 160MHz

Authentication Method: WPA/WPA2-Personal

I reset the mesh system after updating the firmware to the latest.

After completing the set up, the 5GHz-2 band (used for the wifi mesh backhaul) was left as ‘open system’.  Is this not a security issue?  Only noticed as I found an open network on the wifi list when I tried to connect back to the mesh system.

Thanks, I will check those links out.  As it stands these ZenWifi are really great.  After some optimisation getting 400/400 all round.

If Asus need any testing with beta firmware, more than happy to help.

No idea how to do that.  All I know is that when I type 192.168.1.1 it opens the Hyperoptic (Nokia) UI.  I already turned off the Wifi on the Nokia router, but there must be more.  Probably difficult……

I bought the exact same and have now set them up.  My internet package is 500/500 and I get at least 350/250 all over the house.  Quite impressive but slightly over £500 is very expensive….

The IP address for the UI is 192.168.50.1, this is with the main unit connected to the Hyperoptic modem/router.

How do I get it to be 192.168.1.1?

I have Hyperoptic 500mb package and the google mesh wifi is not giving me good coverage to my bedroom.  I ordered, and then cancelled the orbi as apparently it lacks parental control (you have to buy subscription even for schedule control).  The Asus one comes with full parental control and I can get for £300-£320 (it is expensive)

Totally agree with Cozak.  Both the DSL-AC68U and then the DSL-AC88U were pretty bad products for me.  At least the 68U continued to receive firmware support but the 88U support was non-existent.  Asus treated customers pretty badly.

The DSL-AX82U would have to be an amazing product with great support for me to ever buy a combined modem/router from Asus again.

Why no G.fast?  Does that mean it is not fully for the UK market?

I have had Hyperoptic for over 3 weeks now.  No complaints so far, blazing fast speed with no slow down or connection issues.  Hope it continues this way and I do not have to go back to BT copper lines.
