Up and running now. Speedtest shows slightly faster than what I ordered. This is over wireless powerline. So far very impressed.

I drilled a hole through the metal door frame in the living room. Hyperoptic came and installed the socket and connected the router (ZTE H298A). Activation is on Monday

I had to cancel the order. There are no wall sockets available in my hallway. They refused to drill a hole to the nearest socket in a room as they only run cabling on the surface indoors.

The wiring is already done up to the front door. Once you order they need to drill a hole through the door frame. Then run cat 5 cable to the nearest power outlet.

I was going to be given the Tilgin HG2381. Unfortunately the lady engineer would not be able to run the cable to my living room. Need to drill a hole through the wall

Hyperoptic is available in my building. Never used them before but decided to take the plunge on their 150Mb package. Hope it is the right decision. At least I will not have to deal with this router for a while if things go well.

I read somewhere g.fast is on the 7582 and 7583, cannot find one on Amazon for UK use. I use the google WiFi Mesh for reaching far ends of the house. Works really well for me.

Merlin guide Asus with future releases and even help them with official releases. Not to mention that in some cases he tested if not even testing now pre release builds. (just info I found online). I use custom fw on my new rt-ax88u and is rock solid, so where I will never look on asus all in one device(modem-router) there is a definitely option for router only from asus.
I am aware of the support provided by Merlin with Asus routers, but I cannot give money to a company that treats customers this way. After all the problems with the AC68U, I had hoped that they will have learnt from their mistakes.
Anyone know if there is a Fritzbox that supports g.fast for UK?

Asus have been absolutely disgraceful with the lack of support on this product. I for one will not be buying any more modem/router or router only devices from them. Why would I buy anything from them when they treat customers like this?

It is great Asus are still supporting this model. I had one before and the features on it were amazing. Only reason to get rid of it was that it was not good for my longish line.
Shame Asus does not show any love for the newer DSL-AC88U.
