The only reason I went for this Asus was because I was sick of the homehub being so locked down that I couldn’t use my Pi-hole without workarounds. This was the only available one that ticked the boxes I needed. I knew it had issues but not this bad, even though this looks like a 100% external problem still having buyers remorse lol.
I may change out to a draytek modem or something, The DSL-AC88U doesn’t even support BTs IPv6.
15 hours uptime on the line now and errors and data rates are starting to rear their ugly heads. SNR has never been higher than 2.9/3.1 usually also.

We even went to the cabinet together which is what’s confusing me as because it was the cabinet 100m away from the house that time.
Thanks for all your help and patience by the way. It’s difficult to find any one in the know, it’s beyond the scope of bt customer service and openreach have got back to me with a generic “we won’t deal with you call your isp” as I was expecting.
I can’t even get the answer from them if I should be using SRA, Bitswap, G.INP or G.Vectoring and the bt forums dont help much either.

Is it possible to reset DLM without openreach yet? I remember a while ago hearing they were looking into letting providers do it from their end without having to get somebody out to the cab.
Somebody hit a power cable near by last year and it lead to rolling blackouts which led DLM to go wild on my line and lock me down to a low band when it was seeing the constant line drops until i requested a reset and it instantly went back to 220+
I’m mentioning this because a few weeks ago the substation around the corner blew up and caused the same problem, electric on for 10 minutes. Off for an hour. On. Off. On. off. Wondering if this has screwed something, the cabs usually have battery back ups though I believe. And my hardware is surge protected plus the home hub wasn’t plugged in at the time which should eliminate hardware issue as it’s still having the issue when switching back to the HH.

Something I have noticed is the wire to the telephone pole from my house is very droopy, Whilst all others connected to the pole going to other houses are taut. Im not sure if it’s always been like this or since we had those terrible winds. Either way BT are saying there’s no line fault and the test socket noise was fine when I checked also.
Could it be possible the cabinet is suddenly experiencing a lot of new connections / bandwidth use with a lot of people working from home lately, using voip network phones, streaming etc? I was told “it was first come first serve and limited availability” when I first signed for g.fast but I thought it was just sales jargon. I have a cabinet 100m away as the crow flies, but the cabinet im being served by now is showing 1km away on the kitz site. (Which would make that like attenuation make sense?)
Using other houses in the street on the availability checker shows 80/20 packages only. I can’t wait for FTTP

Initially I was offered a choice between 160/30 and 330/50 but was estimated 220+ so it made sense for me to pick the higher package. When the engineer came he was happy with the line and said I should get possibly 250+ but it settled at 220 ish. The wholesale checker is currently down at the minute.
The line has been stable since I’ve had it tbh only these last 3 months or so it’s having these problems. And yeah when using the home hub, I’m getting the stats and same drops. Can’t wrap my head around it other than it being an external issue. Note pic 2, the checker said 220 clean a few days ago then changed to this.
my contract is up shortly and they want to increase pricing and putting me on a lower speed. They’re really pushing it.

Eventually CRC and the occasional ES error on the down starts coming through, the data rate drops, the TCM on the upload changes from “ON” to numbers.
The system log continuously shows the drops and restarts but the physical system uptime doesnt drop so its not like a power drop, the dsl uptime restarts every time it drops.
Is anybody else using this for BT G.fast? I’ve tried multiple DSL settings, the G.INP. G.Vectoring profiles etc and getting the same issue with all – BT could not give me the 100% correct information to use apart from the pppoe login info which ofc already know, and Openreach wont disclose anything to me just BT as im their customer not openreachs, the usual.
EDIT: 2nd picture – another drop, as shown in the time and the rates starting to lower with the errors coming in. Heavily believing its out of my control.
EDIT: 3rd drop 3rd pic lol.

Will do, just had a Random full reset of the AC88U though, just beta things.
I would test with different modem and hopefully have no problems anymore.
I’ve tried the original BT homehub, I don’t have easy access to another Modem (G.fast line).

Basically I’m having a lot of issues, while BT are saying there’s no fault (of course)Â using the wholesale speed checker I’ve gone from estimated 220 down (clean) to estimated 160 down (clean) and I only checked this from having several dropouts per day (Tried using the homehub and the DSL-AC88U, changed cables, using the test socket, checked my outside line within the boundary of my property and its fine).
I’m getting packet loss, I’m getting buffering and just a lot of drops and issues over the last three months, generic line issues and noise. I’m trying to find the cause and rule out things before last resort an openreach engineer comes out and finds the reason “just inside your property boundary unfortunately” and charges me again.
When I had this installed the engineer was seeing 330/50 but did inform me it will fluctuate during the initial settle in period. It settled around 220mb which i was happy with, but I’m assuming more and more people are connected to the cabinet (or the degraded copper line is finally on its arse).
If I go to BT as a new customer they wont even offer me the G.fast package to this address any more, so I’m sure its something on their end.
I was just hoping if there was a way to monitor my connection say over 24 hours – with just the DSL-AC88U and my pc connected hardwired as always, to see whats happening.

I have Telnet access now via powershell/cmd.
I have heard there is limited support for dslstats.exe to work with this, I’ve managed to gain access with it but it just reports the basic info and repeats an error message stating “” is not a valid integer – admin and password are blank and cmd is custom set to bcm_xdslctl.
Cheers.
