AFAIK this should work after loading recovery and before connecting to DSL (when provider will load it’s config as first step via TR-069).
Maybe your provider modems are closed to load recovery.
Here it has adopted firmware too and you cant load recovery, but there is no need to do so as there are no limitations in software.

TR-069 is part of the game, you only need to delete TR-069 user before you connect it to DSL and deactivate TR-069 in security settings.
And nothing can be done remote from provider.

I could lower SNR to really get full 313 (line will syncs with 320) but then too many uncorrectable errors occur so I leave it as it is on standard max performance.
I am very interested whether in UK it is possible to run without that faceplate and what would be the differences (except maybe less safety for HW while thunderstorm).

I think your lines are attenuated in the lower spectrum (either in cabinett or faceplate or both), so you loose some amount of possible speed because less bits can be coded in these channels (I may be wrong but better values give more speed AFAIK).
And I still have POTS and a splitter too, so thats not the reason for your curves.

I would try to use without and lets see what happens.

Carrier can be anyone after sync, have seen A43, B43, J43 and even one more (cant remember maybe C43) in the past.

Here (in Austria) FritzBox modems are provisioned from provider via ACS first time you connect to the line.
Very few users prefer to disable TR-069 and configure manually, but thats not possible for NGV (telephony) and TV, these services need provisioning from provider.
For internet access only you can disable it and configure on your own so your provider wont have any access to the modem.
Dont know how its done by UK providers.
Factory reset can always be done, but no need for new modem.

The box has a RJ45 slot and you can use your existing cable from faceplate to your previous modem.
RJ11 plug will fit into RJ45 without any issues, only a little looser to the side but still good connection!
Sometimes there are warnings about weakening or even distroying outer pins, but thats neither correct nor an issue as they arent used on the DSL-port, you cant destroy non existing things.
The only difference between RJ11 and RJ45 are additional outer pins and so broader design of the plug (same high and depth), but they arent used on this router, so what …
