Tried a Draytek 130 with mixed results. Looking for a Draktek 2760 (non wifi version) if anyone should know of a good source other than ebay….?

The DSL-AC88U being the router and the RT-AC88U being a ‘repeater’ ?
I’m asking this as the RT-AC88U can be deployed into the garage for wider wifi (there’s a TP-Link in there just now)

Nice but the RT-AX88U is a bit too pricey for me at the moment.
If you start a new topic under ASUS Forum say call it (RT-AC88U and Draytek 130) , we can run thru a few options to hopefully help improve what you have. the Drayteks in particular are usually very good

Thanks but not really wanting to spend the time investigating this just now as I have a few interviews lined up this week (Software Engineer) and need solid internet. In fact typing this just now I’ve decided the DSL-AC88U is being retrieved from the loft…

DSL-AX82U will be interesting, usually first few firmware’s are buggy, but should improve after that ? What’s wrong with your current set-up ?
I’ve had to power cycle the Draytek 130 twice, the RT once and had wifi issues about 4 times in less than 2 weeks since switching to this set up. The sys log from yesterday just stops when I had to power cycle the RT – no disconnect info…
I now expect no server response when I go to refresh a web page. Seriously considering going back to the DSL-AC88U until the new range is available.
The Draytek was brand new and the RT was used.

Now using Draytek > RT-AC88U (with latest Merlin FW). I’m impressed with the features on the router but the family have complained about the wifi not being as good (previously used DSL-AC88U). Been a few drops… we’ll see how it goes in the coming days. Router was factory reset.
On the plus side my Zen Internet FTTC line went from 67mbps to 76mbps

I’ve purchased a Draytek 130 new from Amazon so step #1 done.
Is it possible to cross flash the DSL-AC88U to RT-AC88U? Yes I realise DSL side is not implemented (now handled by the Draytek) and I’m not going to magically get Wifi6 but at ~£300 for a new RT-AX88U it’s a bit expensive right now.

Don’t require Wifi mesh as our house is fairly small with breeze block walls on the ground floor and stud partitions upstairs. The wifi on the DSL-AC88U works well for us. I had hoped this unit would be kept up to date by Asus…
and it’s interesting to read about the unit’s memory leaks.Previous to the DSL-AC88U I did have a separate modem and wifi setup (TP-Link TD-W9980 router and something else for wifi) so not adverse to splitting out the roles.
I also use an instance of PiHole as DHCP and DNS server – I presume things would be worse if the DSL-AC88U were doing these also?
