Well, reported the BT Internet IPv6 issue again via the feedback form, but I won’t hold my breath. Slowly reaching the end of my tether with this router…
@KingfisherUK – Alas I do not think it will be resolved any time soon, ASUS as so far behind with this unit in terms of Firmwares updates due to Kernal memory leak issues, we are looking at 2019 at least, but it is on my list I send to ASUS regarding, improvements. The DSL-AC88U still does not support MU MIMO as yet ;)

November 9, 2018 at 6:57 pm #1387November 9, 2018 at 7:14 pm #1388Well, after saying yesterday mine was fine and that I didn’t want to tempt fate, it rebooted three hours ago. I think this would have been close to 30 days up time. No idea what happened. Will try the new beta when I get home.

November 9, 2018 at 8:56 pm #1390Thanks darkblak and UK Sentinel. You wait ages for a bus and then 2 come along at once…… I have flashed the new beta build586 twice, once with UI factory reset after flashing and once with manual factory reset after flashing.

Ping seems good, I assume you are happier ?

The connection is a lot more stable now with new wiring and port change from Openreach. The pings are really good so far. In total it took 4 visits from Openreach with the final one a full DLM reset. 3 of the 4 engineers were amazingly helpful. Hopefully the AC88U doesn’t start to play up.
Now that the firmware has stabilised, hopefully Asus can iron out the last few bugs and start adding the missing features.

November 10, 2018 at 1:48 pm #1398I’ve just flashed the 586 beta in the hopes that it sorts our whatever was happening with the reboots. I was away last night, but it had rebooted at least once before I left, and again while I was away as this AM it had only been up for three hours. So it was completely stable for a month and then began this repeated reboot thing. I’ve no idea what causes it. Fingers crossed 586 sorts it. Looking good so far.

If 586 does not fix reboot issue, then time to look at Logs and hopefully get a clue from there

November 10, 2018 at 10:35 pm #1400I’ve been looking at the log, but it only goes back an hour at a time so unless I catch something happening as it happens I’ve got no chance. I assume that there must be another way of accessing the logs – and what is shown? Right now it shows nothing much, other than info about the VPN and occasional mentions about transmission saving things. I googled a bit to see if there was any info, but all I could see was something about changing level, but I didn’t really understand how to go about doing that.

Understood, if router reboots, then we can work thru what you need to do to dig a little deeper

November 10, 2018 at 11:42 pm #1402Fingers crossed it doesn’t come to that. So far so good with the new beta anyhow. But then 585 was fine for 30 days …

Maybe worthwhile whilst DSL-AC88U is running, just keep a mental note of memory usage and CPU’s temperatures, as you location can get bad weather, are cables coming into your house on via poles or underground etc?
