I have received the same build from ASUS.

I have started now the new test but without reset the settings because I’m not at home to reinitialize all the parameters with the correct values. But I hope that this is not a problem.

ASUS have given me a copy of there latest DSL-AC88U firmware with memory leak fix, see below and please be aware, this is a beta, so read ASUS DSL Beta Firmware Policy, top of ASUS Forum and I am happy to pass back comments to ASUS if this helps?

    <hr />

Looks like we all have it. Fingers crossed.

Memory usage is looking good/stable so far, after a day or so. maybe worth turning on AiProtection etc. to see if this makes a difference  ;)

For this night I stay with the current configuration, to have more ‘statistics’.

Tomorrow after I will try to switch on the AiProtection (for me it’s the first time I switched on the AiProtection, in the past I used only the Parental Control for a Time Schedule and the Web History backup on USB key).

For the moment seems a good firmware for the memory management.

After more than 18 hours the memory seems very stable!

Now I have started the test with AiProtection ON, Web History ON with the backup on USB key every hour.

The memory allocation is a 16% greater than the previous value (56%).

My feeling is that the big memory problem should be fixed! And this is a good news.

thanks for update, yes others are also reporting a initial positive result regarding memory usage, will be interesting to see if AiProtection/USB usage is also managed well by the routers memory ?

After +/- 6 hours the memory seems very stable also with AiProtection, Web History and backup on USB. Also others people confirms these data. This is, finally, a good and stable version!

How’s the WiFi stability and performance?  That was my last problem before I sold it.

I’ve just had this router returned to me since I sold it on eBay because the buyer was not happy with the WiFi range – ridiculous!  He thought the extra antenna’s would give a better range and decided to return it when it didn’t perform as he expected.

I think I’m going to be stuck with this router forever!

The latest beta585 has removed memory leak issue and so far, wifi has improved from a stability perspective, one user has mentioned it has improved, but likewise, thE DSL-AC88U still does not support MU-MIMO etc, so limited improvements but it at last going in the correct direction.

The fact that a purchaser from ebay has returned the router is ironic,  looks like the router and yourself are destined to be together forever ;)

That’s why I’ve not bothered to off-load the 2 I’ve got sat collecting dust here, I hate dealing with non-tech buyers on ebay at the best of times but knowing there’s potential for hassle with the firmware issues alone has stopped me selling on.

I still monitor these threads in the hope one day they’ll create a working firmware.

Good work guys. Thanks for posting your updates.

Any idea when an official release is due? Surely can’t be too long now given the positive feedback…
