I dirty flashed over FW 388_24609 without any issues with an uptime of around 24 hours.

Same here, but just did it so about 24 minutes of up time. Seems like primarily a security vulnerability fix vs performance issues.

after update to latest firmware, i’m experiencing some strange behaviour :

every 5 seconds or so, this message is put in the log :

    21 11:46:41 kernel: usbnet_thread created successfully

    i have a dual wan (with a huawei 4G stick ) and suppose it’s linked to this/

‘usbnet’ as you correctly thought, is USB related and if the only peripheral USB item you are using is the Huawei 4G stick then that’s the cause of the logs.

Nothing to worry about but I realise the repeated log entries are very annoying.

If log messages become annoying, Under Advanced Settings > WAN > Dual WAN is the option for Detect Interval which is defaulted to 5 seconds (I think) change this to another value as I assume this is causing the log message.

But changing this value, does impact WAN failover etc.

    AiMesh AP mode:

Manually upgraded secondary node and then primary and afterwards, manually power cycled each device.

24hrs later, mesh is stable and logs look normal, no connection issues. Main node speed test good 850x100mbps

Only issues I have seen online is where XT8 nodes had been difficult to update, after XT8 Primary node was updated, but once all where updated, stability and usability was good.

I agree. I got alerted that a new update is available for the main node, but the 2nd node says it’s already got the latest even if it’s not.

Logged in this evening and up-time is 30.5 days. Wireless performance remains normal and nothing unusual showing in the logs over the past 10 days. 3.0.0.4.388_24621 seems solid.

Well, if this is the final fw for this system, Asus appears to have gotten it right.

60 days up time in AiMesh AP mode!

Wireless backhaul 1441 hours connection time

    RAM 193 MB free

    26 clients

I haven’t had my mesh mode drop to 2.4GHz once, so I’m extremely happy they finally fixed it!

That’s with 80MHz for the back haul, as I don’t think it will ever work well for me on 160 given I’m 15 miles or so from an International airport.

Going forward I am hoping Wi-Fi 7 equipment comes down to a reasonable price. No rush though, as only my phones support it (the devices that need it least) and I’m not intending to go above 1Gbps fibre until those prices also fall.

Fingers crossed my equipment will just sit and do what it is supposed to do without intervention for the foreseeable.

I definitely hope this is not EoL yet.  ASUS have finally sorted out the FW on the XT8.

Shame about the bad press ASUS are getting with the repairs and customer services shenanigans on YouTube.

Luckily, (not for some) this is US based, not EU/UK.

Personnel never had experience of ASUS’s RMA (warranty) and any real problems/issues I can chat with them directly

Mine hasn’t been changed as well because they dont have worldwide warrenty and if you relocate to another country your warrenty is gone (registred transport costs in both directions are not worth repair).
