Strange log error, I believe it is associated with packet forwarding or lookup tables

April 13, 2025 at 10:43 pm #37112For me the latest FW has been very stable with my 2x BQ16 without issues with an uptime of 15 days 22 hours so far

April 16, 2025 at 2:39 pm #37146I cannot find the ‘VIP card’ in the box for the 2xBQ16 I purchased.
Is there a way to register them on my Asus account without it?
I tried the serial numbers on the units but they are not recognised. I know from previous Asus products I purchased, you needed to enter the serial number from the ‘VIP card’ and not the actual units.

April 16, 2025 at 3:47 pm #37151Tricky, you can contact ASUS UK support via their helpline at 01442-265548 (Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:00) and see what they say.
Or use their online Contact Form.

Depends if you still have your receipts etc. as I am sure they will ask.

I think persistence will be required as they may try to fob-you-off

April 20, 2025 at 4:54 pm #37235Reading the comments about the guarantee made me double check I’d registered my pair of BQ16s. Fortunately I have; unfortunately it says ‘Warranty Expired’ on my account. I’ve sent them an enquiry.
In other news, I’ve been really pleased with the setup. I previously had an AX11000 with a pair of XT8s as nodes which worked flawlessly but I changed my ISP from BT to Zen to take advantage of the 1.6 gig service, so needed a new router/mesh setup. Originally I planned to get a BE98 with a BQ16 as a node but changed my mind when I found a reasonable deal on the pair of BQ16s. Set up was straight forward enough; I’ve got a Sky Q and 4 mini boxes plus several Sonos speakers and had read that others had problems with these, so was pleasantly surprised that every thing works well. In fact, I only need the 2 BQ16s for full house coverage and the garden too.
Just need to get the guarantee reinstated…

April 20, 2025 at 5:18 pm #37246Welcome, your the 2nd forum member to find a good deal on a pair of BQ16s, I need to look harder
ASUS routers tend to be reliable in terms of hardware out of the box, good luck with the guarantee

My 2 x BQ16’s have also been flawless for my use case so far with an uptime of nearly 24 days.
Mine also says warranty expired on 18/11/2024 after finally managing to ‘register’ using the serial number on one of the nodes. I have sent a copy of my invoice and asked Asus to update the warranty expiry date.

April 22, 2025 at 10:41 pm #37267Finally got a response from Asus. Apparently the seller has taken responsibility for warranty on this and I need to approach the seller if I have any warranty issues. This is why the warranty is shown as expired one day before the manufactured date. Feels like I have been fobbed off, but hey as hardware goes Asus routers have been good for me. Lets hope I do not have any issues hardware wise.

April 23, 2025 at 7:49 am #37268That does explain why the warranty card was not in the box, lots of spares on those famous market places, just incase you need them
It is unfortunate warranties are not transferable.

April 23, 2025 at 8:35 am #37270Well at least you got a reply, I haven’t heard anything yet.
My set did have the three year VIP card which I’m pretty sure I used to register via the QR code. It’ll be interesting to see what response I get.
I’ve been using Asus routers (and other gear) for years without problems but I’d expect them to honour the promised warranty, especially if i want to sell them on if the Pro version becomes available later this year.

April 24, 2025 at 7:38 pm #37308I also feel I’ve been fobbed off regarding the 3 year warranty. Asus replied to my enquiry telling me:
‘Amazon has downgraded the warranty for this serial number, now having a 0 month warranty period with the manufacturer. This decision is due to them agreeing to handle any warranty inquiries directly, not through the manufacturer. Should any potential problems arise throughout the warranty period, you will nave (sic) to contact Amazon who will handle all returns and replacements.’
I wasn’t happy with this response so then got in touch with Amazon. After much faffing around, I was told that they would indeed handle any warranty issues, but only for a 2 year period. I pushed for 3 years as per the info on the box and the VIP member warranty card, but they wouldn’t go beyond 2 years, so I went back to Asus to ask them about the missing 3rd year. Here’s the reply I got today:
‘This product has a 36 month warranty, which will be handled by Amazon throughout its entire duration.
In the event that your retailer will not be able to honor your request, could you please provide us with a proof of purchase (VAT invoice) so we can escalate your request, if proven necessary?’
Not quite sure I understand if this means I should only get in touch with Asus in the event of a year 3 warranty claim that Amazon refuse to handle, or if I should send them a proof of purchase now.
I’m baffled why Amazon should downgrade the warranty because of the product serial number and why Asus would do so.
I know that Asus products are reliable based on past experience but as it’s supposed to have a 3yr warranty that’s what Asus should honour. My real concern is that if 2 customers have tried and failed to get this acknowledged on the Asus warranty registration page, how difficult will it be should either of us need to pursue a claim in the future?

April 24, 2025 at 8:15 pm #37309I’m sure the Amazon customer service agent probable (off-shore) you dealt with was not ideal.

April 24, 2025 at 8:18 pm #37310In essence, if Amazon don’t budge, then 2 years with Amazon and the third directly with ASUS and that goes for whom to contact in that order.
AI Generated…
ASUS routers purchased on Amazon generally come with a 3-year warranty from ASUS, not a limited 1-year warranty from Amazon. However, Amazon also has a 2-year return policy for their products. If you experience issues with your ASUS router within the 3rd-year warranty period, you should contact ASUS support first, and they may direct you to Amazon for a return or exchange.
