OMG what a brilliant find! Nearly an hour on chat with Amazon (screenshots taken and saved) and several email exchanges with Asus left me completely confused and concerned. A quick post on here and a full and satisfactory answer.
I can now rest assured and enjoy the BQ16s for the beasts they are lol.
Thanks so much ;)

April 24, 2025 at 9:00 pm #37312I personally did not appreciate warranties where so complicated if ASUS routers are purchased via AMAZON, luckily I usually get mine from ASUS directly

April 24, 2025 at 10:58 pm #37313Mine is exactly the same, I purchased an item that someone purchased from Amazon. For 2 years I will need to return it to the store who will arrange this with Amazon. 3rd year will be a hail Mary and hope……

April 24, 2025 at 11:28 pm #37314It really is bizarre that the warranty conditions are different just because an item was purchased from Amazon.
I’m going to rely on the last email from Asus that confirms it’s a 3 year guarantee and, if necessary, to contact them if I need a repair and Amazon don’t play ball.
Nothing about this arrangement seems to be of any benefit to consumers, including the fact that Asus made no effort to tell us that they’d effectively terminated the warranty.
Just very weird all round and tbh very disappointed with Asus.

May 27, 2025 at 12:03 pm #37881I just noticed that my pair of BQ16s updated themselves overnight, I’d got auto-update turned on (by mistake, I don’t normally do this). Anyhow, all is fine thus far so hoping it lasts lol.

June 7, 2025 at 3:21 pm #37967Does the latest BQ16 FW 3.0.0.6.102_36934 include a patch to fix the security vulnerability that is being widely reported?

June 7, 2025 at 5:02 pm #37968I believe the ASUS ZenWiFi BQ16 is not effected by the published CVE-2023-39780 injection flaw. (it is to new).
Only a handful of router models all running older firmwares versions where impacted, alas ASUS officially have not published which models and what firmware versions are effected.
But seems to be the following three ASUS models.
- RT-AX55
- RT-AC3100
- RT-AC3200
