The G.fast Faceplate sounds interesting, as it for G.fast and VDSL and has a newer REIN filter, seems only MK1 had no REIN Filter, MK2 had the First REIN filter and by the MK3 they changed the standard REIN filter, MK4 also has a REIN filter and is the latest faceplate offered by BT until G.fast install is required when the G.fast faceplate is used with NTE5C Master Socket. I think that correct ?
yeah I looked at the g.fast faceplate but it was rather expensive.

May 26, 2020 at 6:39 am #7665£30 for new G.fast faceplate./Master Socket, yes a luxury rather than a necessity

May 26, 2020 at 6:50 am #7667Yeah, and personally I don’t think the G.fast one will make much difference on vdsl. Very similar design to Mk4, only higher frequency filter which is not used on vdsl.

I think so to, I might purchase the MK4 , just in the name of science or ask @Bully to post one to me as he has several by now

I wonder if your telephone extension is not shorted somewhere. If you can do quiet line test with everything plugged in as it is now but do test on telephone extension.

May 26, 2020 at 8:35 am #7674I just ordered a new BT Openreach NTE5C MK2 + MK4 Faceplate to replace my existing MK2 Faceplate and NTE5A Master socket,
Looking forward to see if DSL stats change / improve ?

May 26, 2020 at 8:42 am #7676I didn’t know you have issues with your line? I though last time problem was solved. Hope you order one with clear idc connectors, these colour ones (blue and red) was faulty, apparently.

My line is fine, just thought I would try a newer one, in the name of science and improved stats

I will start a new thread with my results , save clogging this one .

May 26, 2020 at 5:22 pm #7679That is like nine times worse than previous day stats. You clearly must have issue with extension line. If you want (it’s absolutely safe once you take off filtered faceplate) lift up extension idc clamp and remove telephone extension cables and test for 24h without. If you want go further I will check with multimeter if they are not shorted somewhere. How looks like your extension socket? If you have issues with telephone extension that is probably what killed previous faceplate.
Edit.
Only last 15 mins you had more FEC errors than previous 24h…

May 26, 2020 at 5:31 pm #7682Yes, something not running correctly, way to many errors.

May 26, 2020 at 5:44 pm #7683Trouble is that @Bully proved yesterday with previous stats on test socket that his line is really not bad. And I’m sure that either telephone socket is faulty or telephone? It’s easy to test.
Either test for 24h with telephone unplugged (extension connected in master socket), and test for 24h with extension line disconnected from master socket.
