I have enabled command line support, my issue is it doesn’t get as far as loading the boot image… it literally gets Ip from DHCP then sits there and goes back to the menu option of boot from network etc… it doesn’t stat to load the bootimage so hence I’m not aware of any logs anywhere that i can check to get a idea of what’s happening i.e. can it not find the boot image, is it looking in the wrong location, does it simply thin there isn’t a boot image..

Hi,

I’m not sure what the vSwitches are, there is just a option to add vSwitch and that’s it, it doesn’t say Layer or Layer 3 anywhere.

I can ping between the DC and SCCM box from either machine to the other so that’s ok. and my VM for PXE booting and installing a image on picks up a DHCP address from the server so I presume that is all ok.

The only Firewall is the vmware firewall as it cannot access the internet so the Asus firewall shouldn’t be any impact.

I’ve not setup any VLANs, just different network 192.168.2.0 for the SCCM domain etc.

My SCCM has the boot images distributed BUT i also have the WDS service installed and in the WDS MMC, it shows no boot images at all so i’m wondering if SCCM was meant to add them to WDS but it hasn’t hence PXE is booting, getting DHCP IP but then WDS has no bootimages hence nothing happens?  I don’t recall doing much with WDS before and I thought it should of talked directly to SCCM server to get the boot images but I could be wrong.

Hi,

Yes, sorry – I’ve been so used to calling it SCCM, i just continue to call it that :)

I’m running the latest version.

In my vmware, I’ve setup a virtual switch which is connected to a virtual NIC which is disconnected.  The SCCM DC, SCCM and Win10Client VM are all connected to this virtual switch so effectively can ping each other BUT unable to reach my desktop PC or internet etc. I connect via the console window in vmware, I can connect and login ok and I can ping the sccm DC and sccm server ok between the both.  When i PXE boot the win10client, it gets a DHCP address from the sccmdc in the correct range so that’s all good, it just doesn’t progress.

Yes, I’ve also assigned them a different network range i.e 192.168.2.0 network IP addresses.

Like I say, I had this all working in SCCM 2012 but unsure why it wont work now.  I know there has been a lot of changes and some stuff has been deprecated since 2012 SCCM so I’ve tried following some guide i had for 2012 as best I can and also looking up new guides but I’m at a loss now.

I want to try and learn more SCCM to try and progress my career in this avenue as I’m pretty much stagnated in my current role, I been doing it for a long time and have been given endless promises of being involved in other things and doing a hybrid type role etc but nothing ever happens, it all sounds good and then all goes quiet. From my existing role, SCCM or end point manager seems like the next logical step but getting into it seems pretty hard as all jobs I’ve seen want x years experience etc and I don’t have that as I’ve only used SCCM from the client perspective with no real access to be able to add drivers or software and deploy it.  Been looking for some entry type jobs into sccm but doesn’t seem to be any about.

My current role, I’m starting to see not much future in so looking to try and get some experience/exposure to something else to try and move on into something that will be around for another 15 years or so as not getting any younger to keep learning new stuff :)

Yes, for some reason it still wont work, I had it working on a old setup but now it wont work.

Will have to take a look some time and see if i can figure out why it wont work now.

I’ve basically setup my servers in 192.168.2.0 network and i’ve assigned a non-live NIC so i can access via the Vmware Console and boot up each machine but when i try to PXE boot, just says ipv4. and then it doesn’t get an address and eventually goes back to the menu.

Not sure why it wont work as its effectively a self contained network as it has no internet access at all.

Thanks for the reply.

I’m basically setting up a deployment server so I can PXE boot and image a virtual machine or physical machine.

I thought i had set it all up ready BUT when using a virtual machine it does EFI network and then gets a IP address and then waits for a bit and then returns me to the menu options, it doesn’t seem to locate the deployment server.

I have 2 domains, I’ve separated them by placing them under different network adapters in Virtual machine.  If using E1000 NIC on VM, it doesn’t get a IP address, by selecting VXNET3, it gets a Ip address but still no progress.

Upon looking some people set setup DHCP 66/67 and others said no, that’s old and deprecated, use IP helpers so hence started looking at IP helpers but maybe I’ll try the DHCP options and see if that helps.

Thanks, yes the logs seem all over the place, I think after I did one of the updates, I got way more info in logs and since then it’s been more than initial although admittedly I don’t really check them much now as I’ve basically given up getting Sonos to work and everything else is working ok so I’ve just decided to skip Sonos as the units I have are old and Sonos are keen to get you to trade in and pay more for newer versions, wouldn’t mind but they not exactly cheap pieces of kit.

I’ll give it another couple of weeks until its been out about a month and then I’ll look to update it.

I’ll check to check out SNB :)

yes, it seems like users actually update it, i’ve not signed up/registered, i jsut downlaoded so I can’t submit prices etc… but on android it says the price then underneath updated x ago i.e x hours, x days etc.

 

So if your lucy and it updates the same day maybe the price is current if not, no guarantees the price is what the app says.

I use BP mostly now as i pass them more now and I’ve setup the app so i can pay by the app and not go in the store (set this up when covid hit to limit being in a close space with others back then) and so now I tend to use it.

It’s quiet easy, i pull up, clock the pump number when driving in.  Open the app, select the pump number and choose full up tank, I don’t choose x amount, then it confirms details, it ear marks £100 on my payment card and then it unlocks the pump, i get out fill up, when i reseat the nozzle, a few seconds later, the app then says processing and then done – paid.  after that it then charges my card the correct amount, it can take a couple of days or so but I never worry, on my statements the figures are correct so that’s all good.

BP also do some deals sometimes for double points etc as I collect the points, i can eventually use these for money off the fuel, only snag is I can’t do that in the app, i have to go in the store and show my reward card on the app at the till and i guess they scan it and then it deducts my £x I’ve built up off the price of my fuel.  ATM I got about £15 earned lol Waiting to get it higher so I can eventually pay for a 1/2 or a full tank with it :)

I been using that app on Android but tbh the prices are not overly accurate as it will say x hours/days ago last updated… I went to one of my local ones which was supposedly cheaper, got there and the price had already gone up to be in line with others so for me, its not that useful tbh.  Also for me, Tesco is charging same price now as BP!  However, fuel isn’t as good as i get less mpg from Tesco than BP fuel on the standard fuel…

Thanks, yes i was having a look online and I see reports of some potential WIFI issues and also debugging still enabled in logs so getting lots of info in logs which I think we had in a earlier firmware but then got turned off/minimised.

Some people have rolled back due to the issues so I think I’ll leave it for a while and maybe wait for the next release and see what feedback is in, maybe this one was rushed out?

I had gas separate as I went with a small company and the prices were very competitive and I’ve been with them for a few years and they were great.  Admittedly no bells and whistles, a work in progress online login account was being worked on towards the end but i got emails regular each month and was very easy, no hassles at all.

I did toy with fixing my gas and elec with same supplier but existing gas came to a bit cheaper and as they had been fine up till then, I decided to stick with them but turned out the company went bust purely because the company they bought gas off went bust and they couldn’t get it for similar price so they went bust as they couldn’t make it work then due to rice rises etc.

I’ve always found better deal son single tariffs than dual fuel so they have always been separate but now the market has effectively shrunk as most smaller/competitive companies are fewer, I suspect they will all be fairly similar now as no real need to compete much these days they can just all hike the prices. Whereas with smaller companies they had reasons to try be competitive and smaller companies got certain tax breaks etc to help them be more competitive.

I did look but it seems you basically have to contact them, the tariff info I could find is higher price unfortunately.  I heard good things from Octopus but just a bit too pricey and seems to show Elec/gas tariff so unsure if would do single gas.

 

Ultimately eventually I’ll prob go dual duel with someone but atm they are out of sync. as Elec will run out 2023 and gas I’ll fix for 2 years as I’ve read online that whilst prices are predicted to come down a bit in 2023, it is likely the savings wont be passed on to us till 2024 so worst case if that’s Jan 2024, I’ve only got to go till June/July – 49 days so wouldn’t be too much hassle so decided to fix for 2 years.

 

When Elec is up next year, I’ll re-evaluate and if it’s beneficial, I’ll pay the exit fee and re-fix both or switch as required but suspect will remain on the 2 years, might just fix Elec for 1 year and go from there.

Thanks @UK Sentinel! So is this firmware ok to use or should I give it a while so it can be tested etc as wondering as it been quickly packaged and deployed or gone through usually testing procedures etc lol  Mid July to today is a bit of a leap lol or did they create this one a while back and just forget to release it and therefore will be another one mind July :)
