I still thinking about fritzbox, I live in 3 bedroom house, but router have on his way only ceiling and maybe two walls, shortest way I will say 5-6 meters as router is downstairs and my bedroom and my son is on another end of the house upstairs.

Rt-ac68u getting 866Mb to my pc, similar with other pc. I also need strong wi fi so I can watch and process content from my personal cloud connected to router on one of the lan ports, transfer to cloud from pc good 60MB plus when copy pictures or videos from camera.

I got only 78Mb broadband, and even that in same time is connected cloud, 5 mobile phones, three smart tvs, laptop, and two pcs I still getting quiet low ping while playing games without any issues. So before I go for next router  I need to do some research…

Asus is in good price at the moment, but if there is an issues with it I’m not fancy 😛

That’s the trouble, I don’t want to end up with worse wifi signal than I have now…

Was also consider routers with new ax standard, changing pcie card in pc won’t be a problem 😉

I was looking for fritzbox 7590 and actually prices on amazon are below 200 pounds which is not bad, I only worry about wifi on it as I read reviews that is not best due to internal antennas.

I configured mine exactly same as you said, yesterday did al manually, it shows for me same as on your screenshots two green ticks for internet and iptv but no internet access from router, of course vlan id 101 is done automatically by eci so don’t have to set this up.

Really appreciate your effort.

Unfortunately router freeze again today, and I decided to return it, cant listening wife and kids every time this thing not working… 😖

Luckily for me bought mine from currys, they never do problems if something not working as should, fully refunded. Now old rt-ac68u back on duty temporarily until I find decent replacement.

Once again thanks for your help @Uk Sentinel, maybe you can recommend something for me with decent wifi? 🤔

There is no such thing like memory leak on mine, memory usage never go higher than 186MB, I also keep eye on temperature, is not higher than usually. Trouble is that freezing thing started like two-three weeks ago and is worse and worse.

I don’t think I have to be struggle with this router anymore. Even don’t working properly with modem attached to it (tested recently with my old rt-ac68u and eci modem works perfectly), wi-fi is slightly stronger (when it works actually, have to turn off and back on every couple of days). My old rt-ac68u is troubles compared to dsl-ac88u, once I setup old one I forgot about it, the dsl-ac88u give me nightmares. One more freeze and it will go back to shop, I think I gave asus dsl-ac88u enough time to convince me, now looking for decent one.

Trouble is mine never does that even on telnet unlocked fw, but last 10 days happened 3 times….

Got another more general question, does anyone experience asus dsl-ac88u freezing? I mean it shows wifi booth 2.4 and 5g but intermet not working, no access to router, all lights flashing as usually, also wired connection not working. Once disconnected from Wi-Fi can’t reconnect. Mine start doing that more often, I really start thinking about decent replacement, maybe even before Christmas…

If you use modem in bridge mode you need to use ppoe authentication through asus by typing in asus type of connection (ppoe), username and password. If your asus is set to get ip automatically you are connected to modem-router?

I start thinking if I didn’t mess up something with fw on eci (updated dsl fw only) but as far I remember it worked before I switched to dsl-ac88u… Maybe it just died? 🤔

Will flash from scratch chaos calmer and will go from there…

What modem is is connected to asus? Is yours is setup to do login to ppoe from asus?

I tried today again and can’t get asus to work with eci modem…

It detect wan correctly just can’t connect to internet…
