Yes, connection through wan, then user name and password in next step, press connect after about 30 seconds pop up message that limit was exceeded and option for try again or wifi settings, so I skipped auto config and go to wan settings, set all exactly same as on rt-ac68u and it didn’t connect. Plugged back rt-ac68u to eci and all good.
Not sure if this have something to do with switch between internet from dsl port and wan, so going this route probably as you said another fw issue.

I tried to use eci as modem only and asus dsl-ac88u as router with login to ppoe session but for some reason asus don’t want to cooperate, it was working perfectly on rt-ac68u but dsl-ac88u just didn’t connect. Any ideas? π€

I decided to do a little experiment today, I never seen how perform old eci modem on fastpatch, when I connect it I couldn’t believe…
Asus sync with max 75500 and actual data rate is 74364, where eci sync with max speed of 78500 actual data rate was 78100, booth on fastpatch…
Beee asus, fuuuu ππ
Looks like asus perform better only on interleave, on fastpatch stayed behind old eci with chaos calmer on board π
Just for reference I’m connected to eci cabinet.

Not sure if all because of fw or could be that broadcom blocked some as well. You need to login in order to vote

Maybe is worth to look into case why router need to be rebooted so frequently? If there is a cap in place reboots should be avoided to prove line stability.

If you type bcm_xdslctl profile βshow, it’s actually show current vdsl settings so nothing to do with cap? Most likely type of connection, vectoring, g.inp etc… and these settings you can save with bcm_xdslctl profile–save, but not cap?

Unfortunately you can’t store cap permanently, also if you cap speed to reduce error amount you should avoid to reboot router. Every reset can cause negative action for dlm.
CRC errors are not a problem usually, you can check all other errors and parameters with command: bcm_xdslctl info –stats.

This looks like G.fast for me, if it is not sure why you put cap? Every time you reset router cap will be removed, so cap need to be applied after every reboot.

I wonβt be going to ASUS again for a router. I doubt they care about what we all think though. They are a huge company and seemingly can afford to upset a few people. I had similar experiences with the dsl ac55u. I wonβt be dong it again. Meanwhile, I have to admit to defeat in the contest with jetspeed. My 88u fell over last night after only 20 or so days β no internet, router inaccessible, had to reboot. It seems like the 100+ days up was a rare occurrence.
This must be best running time for this model, my died after 19 days, will keep monitoring on that matter and if my will keep performing like that it will be back and I will not agree for replacement, I paid 215 pounds for decent modem-router and clearly this is not the one unfortunately….
I already started looking for something else, something what will work out of the box with broadcom chipset for vdsl as this is the key on ny line compared to lantiq, broadcom sync 4MB faster.

They should get all necessary drivers from broadcom as they pay for it already before they use broadcom chipset, so I don’t buy this as an issue. You need to login in order to vote
