OK, youβre on! Iβm at 10 days 22 hours at the moment. Iβm sure to make it to February without any new firmware appearing so I might be get past 120 days! The trick, as far as I can tell, is to turn everything off. No AI. No VPN & hardly any wifi devices. I do use it to stream music and to run torrents, but other than that it doesnβt do anything complicated.
I agree, except I have a tonne of WiFi devices, which is why FW503 is the only stable release for me. Leaks only 1MB per day as opposed to the 6MB of later releases.
I have also offloaded DNS to a Pi Hole, so this can only add to the stability of the whole system.
I’m on 59 days and may surpass your record around Christmas time. The only dilemma now is whether to go for the record or apply new firmware (if it ever gets released).

October 22, 2019 at 5:41 pm #4846Afternoon all,
I got another question related WiFi on dsl-ac68u. I did play with router a little bit and and tried DFS channels, however I think the current ones are not correct for UK, where modem was bought in UK so should be for UK market. When i type in below command I got strange output?:
/ # wl country
DE (DE/982) GERMANYI found some info online where actually UKΒ allow to have higher power output for WiFi signals (for better signal coverage) also DFS channels are different, my mobile report channels(DFS) 149, 153, 157, 161. Router DFS channels are: 52,56,60,100,104,108,112,116,132,136,140. Clearly will be difficult to match devices DFS channel to asus channels…
To @UK Sentinel
Do you know if ASUS can implement option in wifi setting (they did on some other routers) to allow change region setting for correct ones? Maybe worth to add to wish list

October 22, 2019 at 6:23 pm #4849There are so many countries with different settings and they never adopted wifi (channels, power, DFS …)
They have only about 5 regions and so GB is EU (not EU but region Europe).
And so there are minimal settings used to cover all countries in this region.
At least that is true for their RT routers.

October 22, 2019 at 6:26 pm #4850So router should be set to Europe where possibly could have more settings rather than Germany where are differences in regulations compare to UK. Questions in why router bought in UK region is set to Germany?
In RT router is actually 7 options to chose where one of them is Europe, but still not sure where came from Germany region settings on mine?

October 22, 2019 at 7:21 pm #4852Because it is all the same, Germany or Italy or UK, it is all region Europe with same restrictions.
And even all Europe allows ch. 120-128 they usually dont support them because there could be radar and easier for them to disable it completely.
On my old RT-AC68U it was possible to set region #a (worldwide testregion with no restrictions) and you could set really all channels, 1-14/32-64/100-144 (only 149+ wasnt supported by hardware) and with full 700mW power on all channels (over 300mW slower due to more distortions).
Newer RT-AC86U bought in china had option to change region, Europe had most channels only missing 120-128 and 149+, much more than US or Australia.
If you bought it somewhere else you couldnt change region and it was fixed to your purchase region.

October 22, 2019 at 8:51 pm #4855As I said before I bought mine in UK and at the moment there is no option to change region that is why I asked will that be possible in future updates.

October 22, 2019 at 8:59 pm #4857October 22, 2019 at 9:15 pm #4858The code (wl country) relates to Wireless > Professional > Region, and usually When Europe is selected, the default behind the scenes is usually Germany.

Alas the DSL-AC88U does not have the option yet to set the Regional code and once Brexit is done (if ever) then this option for UK region could/should be supported (I will make it a priority and insist with ASUS) so users in UK benefit from the extra wifi β¦β¦..

I have asked ASUS in the past for this type of change and alas to much effort for them

October 22, 2019 at 9:20 pm #4859That’s not surprise that do something properly is too much effort for asus

Hopefully, legally they may have to soon

October 23, 2019 at 7:51 am #4861I don’t want to open a can of worms, but it does seem that UK sentinel is telling us that for those of us trapped in the nightmare of the b word at least we will be getting our wifi back.

That is my plan but there are a few variables – Future Trade and Standards alignments deals with EU that may hinder my intent, time will tell
