Thanks, I will track down the devices with these MAC addresses and identify the issue. If appropriate I will also bind the devices to the best AiMesh node which should prevent them from disconnecting.ย I have set the Roaming assistant values for all bands to -59dBm, which is the setting I had on the old setup and it worked well.
I have also already disabled Appleโs Private Wi-Fi Addresses for all our Apple devices.ย Does ‘Limit IP Address Tracking’ make any difference?
Also, is it worthwhile to enable ‘WiFi7 Mode’ in the BT8?

Finally, I now have an AIMesh network with 10 x BT8. After some initial issues, I have found these settings give a reliable and fast mesh network:
Main network:
– One SSID with 5GHz and 6GHz (stops Apple devices complaining)
– WiFi 7 Mode OFF
– MLO OFF
– Authentication WPA2/WPA3-Personal (do not select WPA3 as some older 5GHz devices won’t connect)
-WPA Encryption AES (do not use AES+GCMP256 as it makes 5GHz devices run slower than 2.4GHz devices)Add IOT Network for 2.4GHz devices:
– WiFi 7 Mode OFF
– Authentication WPA2-Personal (do not select WPA3 as some older 2.4GHz devices won’t connect)
– WPA Encryption AES
– In Wireless – General: select 20 MHz Channel Bandwidth (Apple recommendation)As all my nodes are connected by Ethernet, in System Settings, I found that these give the correct results:
– AiMesh node Ethernet autop setup ON
– Hide Backhaul SSID ON (hides all the secret system backhaul SSIDs)
– Ethernet Backhaul Mode ONIn Adaptive QoS I have selected Adaptive QoS with Media Live Streaming
I just have some Assoc and Disassoc issues in the System Log, which require further understanding (this is just a small selection from today):

I disagree with Grisu. The BT10 and BT8 will operate as a mesh network and not as a router with APs. You do NOT need a different SSID. I am running an ASUS BT8 mesh network with 8 x BT8s. I have SSIDs for the 5 Ghz and 6 Ghz bands and added an IOT network for the 2.4 Ghz band (so only 3 SSIDs in total). I will be adding a further 2 x BT8s to complete my network (previously had 3 x ET12s and 9 x XD4s in my network).
As to adding the BT8 to the BT10, it should be the same process as for the BT10. The easiest method I have found for wired backhaul is to firstly ensure the ‘AiMesh node Ethernet auto setup’, ‘Hide Backhaul SSID’ and ‘Ethernet Backhaul Mode’ are set to on in ‘System Settings’, then just connect the new node in its new location with the ethernet cable and then just click ‘Add AiMesh Node’ (so you don’t need to have the new node close to the router node). It will find the new node very quickly. You must also manually update it immediately with the latest firmware downloaded from ASUS.
Hope this helps.

Yes, unintentionally โAuto Firmware Upgradeโ was defaulted to ON when I installed the BT8s so it is on 56914.
I am not happy with the performance of the 5 x BT8s and the 3 x ET12s so I have ordered an extra 4 x BT8s to go back to my original setup of 10 mesh nodes. I think the issue is caused by โSmart Home Masterโ which is only on the BT8s and not the ET12s and seems to restrict the performance of the ET12s.

ASUS have finally added a ‘Hide Backhaul SSID’ option in System Settings. When you select it, you get a warning, but as mine are all hardwired and on the latest firmware, I enabled it. See screenshots below. All the Backhaul SSIDs then disappeared.

Thanks for the ASUS feedback. As I have multiple 2.5G Ethernet switches between the main AIMesh Router and the AiMesh Nodes, I will enable this option to avoid any future issues.

Thanks for the info and feedback. However, when I had three ET12s and seven XD4s in the mesh, I never saw any extra SSIDs. Itโs only since changing to six BT8s plus the old three ET12s that I saw the extra SSIDs. However the ET12s were updated from WRT 4 to WRT 5 so perhaps this is the reason. But itโs not causing any issues, I just imagined the backhaul SSIDs would be hidden.

I have enabled the IOT (Guest) Network for my IOT devices on 2.4Ghz in addition to the three frequencies in the Main network.
I have also attached screenshots of the new โAiMesh node Ethernet auto setupโ option and the IOT Network.

I removed the three ET12 nodes, but it made no difference. I also made sure EBM was switched on. There is also a new option in โSystem Settingsโ called โAiMesh node Ethernet auto setupโ but I have no idea what it does and it is not referenced anywhere in the manual. I couldnโt even find anything in a Google search. When I checked the iPhone ASUS Router App, I found all the BT8s โBackhaul Connection Priorityโ were set to โAutoโ, so I changed them to โ2.5G WAN Onlyโ. However this still made no difference even after restarting the main BT8 router.
I am considering disconnecting the main BT8 router, powering down all the other 8 nodes and factory resetting the main BT* and then just setting it up on itโs own to see which SSIDs I get. Any ideas?

However, all the nodes have wired backhaul, so does this make a difference?
Regarding the VLANs, does this mean I won’t have Guest Network Pro with IoT WiFi, which is a major feature of ASUSWRT 5?
Finally, will you be starting an ASUS WiFi 7 thread?
Thanks

I will bear this in mind when it comes time to upgrade to a WiFi 7 router (maybe buy a volume seller which gets more support!!).
Just another question, I have 3 x ET12s and 7 x XD4s, so if the ET12s gets upgraded to ASUSWRT 5.0 will the XD4s still function OK with ASUSWRT 4.0?

Thanks for the info. Strangely, when I looked at:
I couldn’t see this, but it appeared later. How do you get to https://www.asus.com/supportonly/ ?
I have updated my ET12s, but I am rightly expecting 3.0.0.6.102 not another version of 3.0.0.4.388
Your thoughts?
Thanks for your support.

My ET12s are still on version 3.0.0.4.388_24542. Do you have any idea when they will be updated to 3.0.0.6.102? The ET12 was the most advanced and expensive router, but ASUS seems to have abandoned it.
Thanks for any guidance.

Are there any Social Media platforms or Forums that ASUS pay attention to, in order to prompt some action, or is that counterproductive?
