I just turned mine On and Alas the DSL-AC88U does not have WEP, try changing Group Key Rotation value to 0

Also try changing Channel Bandwidth to 20MHz and under Control Channel, disable the use of DFS Channels, trial and error I am afraid.

For VPN, try the ASUS (UI) feedback form and ask them, hopefully ASUS will reply, I will drop them an email also, hopefully they will respond to one of us?

Off record, I am amazed VPN even works, give the issues recently with firmware’s.

    How is everyone’s memory usage?

I’m on the stock 585 and not using AI. It seems like RAM usage is increasing 1-2% each day.

Currently on day 12, and 260MB used (57%). At this rate, will I be out of memory in 43 days time?

I have the same issue, gave feedback to Asus both when the beta and the official version 585 was released. They have elected not to respond.

FYI – ASUS do read the feedbacks that are sent in, They just do not normally respond.

That is me with my ASUS (PR) hat on ;-)

I am always sending info via UI Feedback Form, especially when testing for them, they do not normally respond unless something else is required, or I ask within Feedback to acknowledge receipt etc.

Day 5 on 385 here and flushing back to 210mb with no AI. I was on 194 when I first flashed it. Also getting lots of cpu spikes to 100% even when the router is presumably not doing anything much. I’m not expecting to stop checking the ASUS GUI anytime soon

    @UK Sentinel

ASUS are starting to annoy me now, for one they’re not listening to things ive mentioned in their email reply’s. They keep bombarding me with debug firmwares and saying test test test. Not even considering that Ive told them i can’t do any tests that correspond with my speed issue with ai protection on because im not getting my full speed now because of the previous testing lead to me having DLM, thus meaning the tests will be nullified and waste of my time. Still not listening…. sigh.

Now just because i said i reverted to their stable 503 firmware and declared i had no problems with the speed or ai protection prior to my DLM, they’re subtly hinting that i have not configured or noticed if its truly enabled or disabled. Basically trying to pass the blame as it were to the end user/customer. I like to note since March this year i ran on 503 no problems, with no disconnections whatsoever. Perfectly stable. Only time i disconnected was to update the firmware when the 585 was released.

I was alright with helping them at the start but now im not and i feel like a guinea pig, just because they’re useless at their job. Its sad it has come to this because the hardware inside the 88u is solid, its just the poor creation and delivery of firmwares which has destroyed its potential. Im now done with this and exploring different avenues now, whether or not they will read my latest email reply stating i can’t help them is like saying “how long is a piece of string” . If you can help at all since ASUS respond to you UK Sentinel that would be good ;)

Also apologies for the rant :)

    Hi

Asus just came back to me to day this is what they wrote.

I want to ask you how this happened. How can I reproduce this problem? (Please give me detailed test steps after reset to default settings.)
And, do you have enabled AiProtection? (We know that when AiProtection is turned on, it will affect the performance of VPN.)

    Thank you very much.

    This is my answer.

Hi KengiI dont have Ai protection on ,
I set up my vdsl first im on hringdu in island .
Then i setup the wireless connection.
    Then i fallow these instruktions
    https://nordvpn.com/tutorials/ asuswrt/openvpn/

.And i have tested with vpn activated  on the router like i said about 3 to 4mbps up and down with the vpn on router off i get 55mbps up and 40mbps down and then when i activate the vpn software and set the same server  on my pc or phone or Nvidia shield tv and run the test i get 50 mbps down 35mbps up
And i just tested my RT ac51u to see if that one would work but no same problem 3 to 4 mbps up and down
Thack you for all you help
    Best regards Mikael

@torment – Glad they responded so quickly, keep us updated as to progress [lease with ASUS.

It is interesting that AiProtection could effect VPN (maybe) ?

I am on beta585 and don’t have any RAM usage problem.  I do no use AI as everyone seems to find it buggy.  Sitting on 180MB used for 3 days now.

@UK Sentinel, I have not heard anything back from Asus regarding possible upstream SNR bug.  Seems like they have so many other more important bugs to deal with.
