What is the telnet command to check the full line stats?
bcm_xdslctl info –stats
bcm_xdslctlย used on its own via CMD line shows possible options to use via CMD Line

I was typing xdslctl info –stats instead of bcm_xdslctl info –stats

January 13, 2019 at 12:10 am #1959Looks like I managed to get telnet access after all :D
So UK Sentinel, don’t bother bugging Asus on my behalf :P
Now, I need to set telnet to be enabled by default, temporarily, until I can get entware+dropbear installed.
On the DSL-N55U these variables (script_usbumount, and telnet iirc) were set in nvram, but it looks like they are in some config file on this model. Any pointers?

Congrats, I have sent emailย request for Debug firmware, but will cancel it, how did you get Telnet working on your DSl-AC88U – B ??

PM’ed you. I managed to get all my Entware stuff mostly working. But I did find a method to automount it on usbmount or start. .asusrouterย does not seem to get executed if it is modified :/. But so far so good; this has saved my purchase :)

May I ask how U got entware working as I am also trying to achieve same goal but haven’t been able to figure it out with the DSL AC88U on stock firmware. I have telnet access but haven’t been able to use opt directory or jffs but found data folder which seems to be similar to jffs. I tried theย script_usbmount n script_usbhotplug and script_usbumount options with nvram but had no luck.
Any help on how you got entware working would be greatly appreciated :)
Regards,
Ricky.

January 14, 2019 at 10:34 am #1965I wanted to put entware on mine too! I tried, but I really don’t know very much about it so I failed. I wanted to put deluge on it. There are plenty of ‘how to’ pages online, but none of them worked for me. I was using the 583 debug at the time (the one asus sent me and then later emailed me asking where I’d got it from). If any ‘how to’ appears here I’d be interested in trying again :-)

I will try to make it quick.
Format a flash drive with ext2 or ext3. I’m not sure if this is required or just recommended. Note the name of the partition; for thisย example I will useย entware. Plug the flash drive in the DSL-AC88U.
Entware installation:
1.Telent into the DSL-AC88U.
Probably not necessary, but I put everything into asusware.armย directory as I thought AsusWRT would read and execute .asusrouterย from there as it does with the “normal” optware install.
mkdir /mnt/entware/asusware.arm
Make /opt/ย a symlink to the entware flash drive:
ln -sf /tmp/mnt/entware/asusware.arm /tmp/opt
Install entware
wget -O -ย http://bin.entware.net/armv7sf-k3.2/installer/generic.sh | sh
Add the entware installation to PATH and run its start scripts
PATH=~/opt/bin:$PATH PATH=~/opt/sbin:$PATH /opt/etc/init.d/rc.unslung start
Andย opkg should then work, until the next restart where you will need to do the following to get entware working again.
ln -sf /tmp/mnt/entware/asusware.arm /tmp/opt PATH=~/opt/bin:$PATH PATH=~/opt/sbin:$PATH /opt/etc/init.d/rc.unslung start
I have read on some german forum that .asusrouter script will only get executed if it matches the original that gets created during Asus’ optware install. Makes sense as I could never get a modified .asusrouterย to work. I had no luck with script_usbmount either.

January 14, 2019 at 10:57 pm #1976Thanks very much for taking the time to post that. Appreciated. I’ll see if I can find some time at some stage to give it a try and from there attempt to install deluge. I’m sure this would fix many of my woes with this router.

January 15, 2019 at 3:48 pm #1986I managed to get the /opt directory to automount to asusware.arm with entware installed so after reboot and then i enter telnet then cd /opt/ and it returns /tmp/mnt/hdd/asusware.arm/ i just have not figure out how to get paths to set auto to /opt/bin and /opt/sbin.
the way i got the /opt symlink to autolink on reboot of modem/router was to install download master then reboot.
i then telnet into modem and then copied the .asusrouter file from asusware.arm to ../ so in main hdd directory to create a backup of the automount /opt. i did not modify the file as unsure if it will function but symlink does work to /opt. the steps below should help same as krvi mthods but not using ln -sf /tmp/mnt/entware/asusware.arm /tmp/opt.
Here are the steps i took in a clean way to follow.
<!–more–>
Step 1: Install Download Master from within the ASUS DSL AC88U GUI then Reboot once installed.
Step 2: Telnet into 192.168.1.1
Step 3: cd to /mnt/hdd/asusware.arm/
Step 4: cp .asusrouter ../
Step 5: cd ../
Step 6: rm -rf asusware[.arm]
Step 7: reboot
Step 8: Once rebooted telnet again to 192.168.1.1
Step 9: mkdir /mnt/hdd/asusware.arm
Copy Backed Up .asusrouter to asusware.arm Directory.
Step 10: cp /mnt/hdd/.asusrouter /mnt/hdd/asusware.arm/
Step 11: reboot
Step 12: Ignore yellow exclamation mark explaining USB apps are corrupt, once entware is installed and you reboot yellow exclamation mark disappears.
Step 13: telnet into 192.168.1.1 once again :)
Step 14: cd /opt/
output should show
/tmp/mnt/hdd/asusware.arm/
Step 15: wget -O –ย http://bin.entware.net/armv7sf-k3.2/installer/generic.sh | sh
Step 16: reboot
Step 17: Figuring out how to add /opt/bin and /opt/sbin to PATH variable during reboot. ( i haven’t figured out this step yet :( )
I hope this helps.

January 16, 2019 at 6:54 pm #1993Does anyone else have problem with port forwarding and FTP service ?
When i activate FTP service fromย the ASUS port forwarding tab, i can have access to my files but after some short period of time it denies access from the remote smartphone or laptop…
i have tried (the opposite) to open 21 port from Synology NAS through upnp and it gives me access for some time and then denies access again…
when i had DSL -AC68U my FTP service was working properly, i suspect DSL-AC88U for this behavior.
Also AC88U says as notice:
“When you set 20:21 as your FTP server’s port range for your WAN setup, then your FTP server would be in conflict with DSL-AC88U’s native FTP server”
I do what it says but it doesn’t cooporate, it works only for a small period of time!!You need to login in order to vote
