Going to try and have another play tonight; factory reset, re-apply 591 firmware and factory reset again, but sadly it’ll have to wait until later.

January 22, 2019 at 1:57 am #2040Well, after some late night tinkering, I can conclusively say that IPv6 on the DSL-AC88U does NOT work AT ALL.
Router supposedly picks up an address with a /64 PD but nothing within my network works on IPv6 – IPv6-test.com completely fails with a score of 4/20.
Worse still, if Router Advertisement is turned on under the IPv6 options, all wireless devices drop and reestablish connection every 30 seconds or so.
Totally, utterly useless.
You’d think these log entries might give them a hint (these were in the logs I sent to Asus last time)

January 22, 2019 at 2:31 am #2042@KingfisherUK I experienced similar symptoms with IPv6: Tunnel 6in4. My, two, windows devices did not get disconnected, but their IPv6 connectivity did not work at all. Even worse, my two android devices simply did not get any IP when IPv6 was enabled. They did not get any IP, not even IPv4, disconnected from WiFi again within 10 seconds, and then tried to connect again a couple of seconds later; ad infinitum. I used 6in4 for 4 years with the DSL-N55U and the DSL-AC88U definitely does not work with the same settings. I hope @UK Sentinel can relay this issue to Asus so we can get a firmware fix.
I was going to post about it, but I have been trying to figure out why my DSL-AC88U-B seems to crash and restart after 3 to 15 hours if I have entware (/opt/) mounted. I think I ruled out Samba as the cause yesterday. It seems to crash even if transmission-daemon is the only entware package running. It appeared to run fine for 24+ hours without entware, but I only tried without entware for a day and a half. I can’t really remember all the things I have ruled out though; I need more thorough tests and patience. Does anybody else experience crashes/restarts after a couple of hours with entware? Is there any way I can get the router to put crash logs/dumps on usb storage to examine them and find the cause?

January 22, 2019 at 8:45 am #2045I will pass on these IPv6 errors to ASUS, so they can add it to the list ;-)
I had similar issues when I tried IPv6, so โฆโฆโฆโฆโฆ.

January 23, 2019 at 4:43 pm #2047I have sent ASUS the details and after doing a little testing myself, I believe the issue is around DHCPv6 and the way this is routed (or not) as in this case

January 24, 2019 at 2:14 am #2048@UK Sentinel so theย engineer visit me and found there is issue with MSAN Cabinet he tried to fix it but the speed not the same but it got improved from 30 mbps to 50 mbps some time getting little lower but this on ASUS DSL AC88U but once i plug the DLINK I got stable 50 mbps and attainable rate 59 mbps also iam getting better Line Attenuation with DLINKย 16 db compared to ASUS DSL AC88U which is 24db also getting better SNR on DLINK than ASUS DSL AC88U so im waiting to see when they will finish fix the issue onย MSAN Cabinet.

January 24, 2019 at 6:40 am #2049So after 38 days I rebooted my AC88U – all 5GHz wifi clients had trouble connecting. I was able to get on 2.4GHz to check the RAM used was 419MB (91%).
The last part of the syslog seems to indicate dns and dhcp restarted 12 hours ago. There was no more entries after that despite the modem/router still being up and partially working. Maybe it can’t use the remaining free RAM?
I’m surprised none of you are experiencing the same thing. Perhaps not many have theirs up long enough!

I think you are correct, 38 days is long time, most users seem to reboot every week or two weeks
The DSL Logs generally for the DSL-AC88U are not helpful, and others have commented on this, but yes I think after 38 days, DHCP was most likely issue

But why DLINK have better line attenuation and SNR compared to ASUS DSL AC88U, Is this firmware related or hardware.
Also is there any news for adding QOS for download.

ASUS plan not to add Adaptive QoS, but unsure regarding QoS for Download, but I can add it to my list to ask ASUS?
Hope that helps?

Yes thanks i know about chipsets but its kind surprising that normal dsl router perform better than high end router and sure i will be thankful to add it to your list to ask

Some DSL Chipsets in certain environments work better than others, Broadcom is good on long noisy lines, Lantiq was a good all rounder and MediaTek (Econet – DSL-AC68U) synch very high on short / quite lines but if line was long and/or noisy, then performed poorly.
I shall ask ;-)

January 25, 2019 at 8:05 pm #2059Hi, been viewing/following this forum for ages. This unit seems ok for what I use it for, nothing fancy but loads of WiFi devices. I have the latest firmware but now after 33 days up time the memory is almost 87%, it started at 25/30% when updated to latest firmware. Has anyone noticed this as I thought ASUS had finally fixed the memory leak?
