Ok, so spoke with ASUS and they have kindly shared DSL-AX82U beta Firmware (DSL-AX82U_9.0.0.4_386_43563-g9919a0d_cferom_puresqubi) which now the UI of Stability adjustment has changed to -1 dB, -2 dB, … and +1 dB, +2dB etc. and should work for both ADSL and VDSL connections. This is a beta firmware so normal UKTH ASUS beta firmware T&Cs apply (see top of forum) DSL-AX82U_9.0.0.4_386_43563-g9919a0d_cferom_puresqubi.w (5 downloads) Would be good if someone could verify if VDSL Stability adjustment actually works ?
Thanks, SNR tuning works in this firmware as well.

June 4, 2021 at 3:43 pm #13774the only difference i can see is the max rate has gone up a bit. Also the log shows 6db for a couple of seconds after restarting the router then it jumps to 11
Your internet service provider appears to have made a limit.
It looks that way because it focuses on the SNR set during the first connection, it does not interfere with its operation.
My internet package is 100 Mbps dw / 8 Mbps up so even if my line supports more, my operator limits my line to 100 Mbps (102400 Kbps). Your download speed may be limited to 27400 Kbps for any reason. it may be useful to contact your internet service provider.

June 6, 2021 at 6:14 am #13784I suppose if you are on a capped service 50/10, then this may explain why you are not noticing much difference, as you say the DLM is doing its job

June 7, 2021 at 9:30 pm #13796on 1 post I noticed it support Annex: A/B/J/M/L , but router I received from amazon.de only support Annex A/L/M (same on box and in settings), same as tech specs on asus global homepage.
Are there 2 versions of this router ? if yes how you can you different them ? Anyone got one with annex B/J support?
Thanks

Update: spoke with ASUS and in essence, there will be no DSL-AX82U _Annex-B separate modem/router unit.
But:
Only Annex A supported officially, but for VDSL it doesn’t matter. DSL-AX82U can sync up with VDSL in Annex B countries via Annex A. It would only fail to sync with ADSL in Annex B countries.
You may also need (depends on country) an RJ11 adapter to suit your countries hardware DSL wall port connection.
Hope that helps ?

June 8, 2021 at 7:23 am #13800Annex A/B to differentiate between POTS and ISDN is only related to ADSL while VDSL has other Annexes (maybe with same letters) for different purposes.
Here in Austria I could even use Annex B on POTS line, of course with little less speed (not noticeably as you only loose about 150kHz bandwith), depends on operator if he allows this in his config.

Thanks for update, I got it for use on VDSL so I was sure it should works okay, and it works correctly, but I was just curious if I could recomend it for someone on ADSL line.
Unfortunately, there are many wrong information about this in descripsions on different websites, even I saw some annex B on amazon in some countries. So I hope your info will help someone.
Also I noticed there is no options to enable/disable G.vector (G.993.5) On older modem AC68U I could see if DSL modulation: ITU G.993.5 G.vectoring is active on DSL log page, also there is now Vectoring State: Full / Running but I dont know what it represent.

June 8, 2021 at 8:35 pm #13803You are correct, with current firmware there is no options to enable/disable G.vector (G.993.5) – the DSL-AC68U has this option and many more – maybe worth you sending a feedback form and request this option to be added.
ADSL for ISDN should not work with the DSL-AX82U,

June 8, 2021 at 9:01 pm #13804I checked line parameters and it looks G.vector is enabled on AX82U, because without it I have way lower SNR Margin. So maybe they implemented it will check with dslam and automaticaly enable if needed.
Also noticed on different screenshots here and also on my dsl logs that Line Attenuation for upstream is stuck at 0.0 dB, is it known bug or ?

June 9, 2021 at 6:31 am #13805I think much like Fritz!Boxs etc. everything is ON by default, but I am sure there must be a CMD line option to disable G.Vector. but do not have my DSL-AX82U plugged in to check
This is how Broadcom based chipsets work, the DSl-AC88U had the same (feature) – I did ask ASUS many months ago to change 0.0 dB to NA (na) or simular – but sometimes they listen to me, and sometimes they do not as Broadcom may not wish this to be changed.

June 9, 2021 at 6:53 am #13806Do you have Fastpath in your region, ? if so does the DSL-AX82U show this

June 9, 2021 at 7:24 pm #13817June 10, 2021 at 12:21 pm #13824Getting back to the memory utilisation, today sits on 73%. It decreased from 93% yesterday to 73% utilisation today. There has been no restart as I see 33 days up time. DSL connection did not drop either.
With memory utilisation sitting at this value I am again able to check for firmware and I am currently updating AI Mesh node RT-AX92U. So, there is an issue here where memory utilisation is high and check firmware functionality.

June 10, 2021 at 12:49 pm #13826That is good news I suppose, I will let ASUS know the reduction in RAM usage is allowing you to check for firmware again
