June 22, 2021 at 11:21 am #14030June 22, 2021 at 4:27 pm #14034Hi – been trying to track the definitive comments on this post as to whether the Asus DSL-AX82U works with BT G.Fast (or not) and if not why not? (Amazon indicated it did….already purchased and WiFi is super-quick but cannot get it to replace the BT Homehub
)
If not compatible, any other suggestions for a WiFi6 modem/router which DOES work with BT G.Fast (I am on 250mbs)
thanks

June 22, 2021 at 5:00 pm #14035Alas the DSL-AX82U does not support G.fast – it does support super vectoring, but that is a different standard.
If you have already purchased the DSL-AX82u and you have G.fast access, then that is most unfortunate and I would return the DSL-AX82U or purchase a separate G.fast modem (Vigor 166) and use the DSL-AX82U as a router only

June 22, 2021 at 5:22 pm #14036OK thanks VM – finally some clarity !! If I wanted to broadcast a separate WiFi6 channel from the modem (planning on Asus AIMesh for the rest of the house), is there anything else that works with G.Fast? I had seen a previous list but these were all WiFi5?

June 22, 2021 at 5:38 pm #14037ASUS DSL-AC88U supports G.fast, but that model is no longer supported.
If you can return the DSL-AX82U – I would purchase the Vigor 166 modem (BT Approved) and then purchase say the ASUS RT Ax86u router or simular that will support AiMesh and all the AiMesh nodes etc. and G.fast is supported by the Vigor 166
Alas there is no wifi 6 modem / router (all in one device) that also supports G.fast DSL currently I believe.
Wifi 5 (AC) is still very respectable

August 18, 2021 at 3:55 pm #14740Thank you, ASUS has returned by e-mail and I’m sending answers according to questions.
It’s a strange problem and I think the modem doesn’t seem to be insisting on connecting again after the pppoe timeout. ipv4 works after a while, but it does not allow internet output, although ip addresses are assigned ip to ipv6 wan and local devices.
