It is the same release as the firmware for hardware V1 ( 3.0.0.4.388.22068) but this time for Hardware V2 only, but exactly same release version number etc. which is most confusing. Exactly the same changelog as V1.
Not 100% sure that is true as I am on V1 hardware and had the previous 388 release and was offered this release in the app and have installed it and all seems good so far.

December 22, 2022 at 8:13 pm #22051I do not see that accessing the support site from the US. The latest release shown is 3.0.0.4.388.21617. I also have a V1 system. (It says HW Ver.: 1.0 on the label on the bottom).
However if I VPN using a node in the UK (Southampton) and do the same I see the 22068 release however it says it is for V1 hardware now (see the attached).
It’s fair to say I’m a little confused!

December 22, 2022 at 8:27 pm #22057I just looked again on EU ASUS download servers and cannot access XT8 firmware list, so VPN’d to both US and Japan to have a look and yes, can only see the original V1 hardware firmware release (3.0.0.4.388.21617) .
No idea what’s going on

December 22, 2022 at 8:37 pm #22059I can see both V1 and V2. Looks like V2 is a slightly bigger size.
Is this going to be the norm going forward that we get 2 seperate versions? Or is this to iron out some issues before merging back again?

The ASUS Xmas gift to all XT8 (v2) owners, more likely just ASUS tidying up the loose ends before the Xmas break

Ok, I spoke with ASUS regarding firmware for both hardware versions of the XT8 and seems for now ASUS plan to release separate firmware’s for both original and V2 hardware XT8.

We currently have no plans to release the combo firmware for XT8 and XT8_V2.

December 30, 2022 at 9:21 pm #22118Any reason why ASUS is no longer showing release date of Firmware updates on their web site ?
I have asked one of my contacts at ASUS for claritiy around the below post on ROG forum, but does seem as though we (maybe us) are making progress with Firmware dates being re-added.

December 30, 2022 at 10:29 pm #22129That is very good and the right thing for ASUS to do. Baffles me why ASUS made the decision to omit the date in the first place.

December 31, 2022 at 9:52 am #22131Ok, so have had feedback from a contact at ASUS, even they was not aware of this statement released via Republic of Gamers website, but does think also after reading the above statement, the dates will be Added to Firmware releases once again.
Job done

January 2, 2023 at 3:25 am #22168So running on the latest “pre-Christmas” firmware release on a 1 router, 1 node XT8 system. Usually have between mid 50’s and low 60’s devices connected. Usually over a day or 2 there will be a balance between which node a device is connected to, biased heavily to the main router since it is on our first floor with a lot of the smart stuff.
With this firmware it’s been a couple of days since a reboot and only 4 devices are on the “upstairs” node. Is there some way to have the system optimize itself as to which devices connect to which node?
