Just make sure that in dhcp start pooling address is from (example) 192.168.1.6 so your ip (example) 192.168.1.2 for hg612 is not taken by any other device in your network. Also in wan settings you need to change to get IP automatically, hg612 working different than vigor so therefore setup is slightly different. Then of course one cable to wan in asus and one in to lan, if you setup like that you should have access to telnet and via dsl stats program.

April 24, 2020 at 5:35 pm #6692Well 111k FEC errors now compare to milions before, I personally see light in this tunnel. Let’s see if DLM will like this change, minimum 3 days, maximum 6 for any positive action. If nothing happen then we will think about how to help DLM to make right decision 😉

April 24, 2020 at 5:46 pm #6693As per link – changing 192.168.1.1 (i normally use 192.168.1.2) for routers IP sounds a good option to stop the hourly disconnects (a volunteer need)

Hacking modem Iptables sounds a little risky

FEC’s count are getting better

With iptables it’s always lottery, may work, may not. I think I tried in the past with Rt-ac68u and I wasn’t successful. For one cable solution best method working on asus router is the one @Uk Sentinel wrote in vigor section on this forum. If per these instructions HG612 will work on one cable then you can configure same way as vigor.
@Uk Sentinel
Could you please have look on this guide and see if HG612 configured as per instruction from link will work on one cable with asus router configured “your” way.

April 24, 2020 at 6:03 pm #6695April 24, 2020 at 6:10 pm #6696Did you configure HG612 as per instruction from your link? The biggest issue here is HG612 which is not configured properly, once that is sorted all should work. Thing is that if you will play with HG612 now it may reboot as configuration will be changed what is not good move now when modem settling.
Edit
Every reboot now delay positive action from DLM side, so it’s your call. If you reboot modem you start counting again from scratch. I personally will wait these couple of days.
Edit 2,
You sure you setup telnet from windows correctly? If dsl stats working telnet must working as well as dsl stats take all data from telnet.

April 24, 2020 at 6:19 pm #6699Not done anything from the link.
How i currently have it configured –
On Asus router RT-AC86U
Get the WAN IP automatically No
IP Address – 192.168.2.2
Subnet Mask – 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway – 192.168.2.1
On Hg612
Lan ip 192.168.2.1
EDIT 1 – When i try to access via windows telnet i get this – Microsoft Telnet> 192.168.2.1
Invalid Command. type ?/help for help
Microsoft Telnet>EDIT 2 – I know why, i did not enter telnet then ip (how embarrassing)

April 24, 2020 at 6:31 pm #6704O.K first of all, the HG612 will not work on single cable until you finish procedure from post you linked, and actually I read through and Iptable commands are executed on HG612 modem so that may be a bit tricky. The other more safe option is configure HG612 as I described earlier with two cables connected and I guarantee that all will work as should.
For better telnet experience I recommend PuTTY

The iptables etc. look good but I would not approve this usage (my moto is) ‘KIS’ keep-it-simple -this could leave the modem open to exploitation,
