I did another test to compare, laptop in far corner of my bedroom and my mobile, booth connected to 5G, as you can see on screenshot mobile phone much better connection (laptop with intel card), where on laptop speedtest give me results of D-72.19Mb/s and U-18.48,mobile phone give D-2.55Mb/s and U-5.35Mb/s, how wired is that?

I got set 2.4 to 20/40Mhz, I tried yesterday with 5g and 80Mhz with mu mimo and beam forming, rebooted router make no difference on my mobile. I may be wrong but I think mu mimo working only with devices which support it? I don’t think any devices in my house support this?

I wonder if protect management frame don’t cause this issue? When I tested my mobile on other router which don’t have this all was O.K.

It shows on screenshot that non other devices got this, I believe is (pmf-opt), and for some reason I can’t turn this off.

Thanks for your input, this is what I try to say from the beginning but looks like some of the info been lost…

I connect to 2.4 network because is faster upstairs then 5g, on previous routers was opposite, as supposed to be. When I connect my LG v30 to 5G link speed is 866Mb/s but speed test getting only 45Mb/s even then I sit 2 meters away from router. Upstairs I got 500Mb/s plus – link speed, but speedtest getting ridiculous 2-3Mb/s,on 2.4g I got slightly better. To my 5G network are connected only my pc and my son as these two are only able to use full bandwidth capability, don’t have idea why? My pc for now (will be changed soon) got Asus pce-ac68 card and sync with 1.3Gb/s I can get full broadband speed, my son card is with realtek chip and he got around 1.1-1.3Gb/s link with full speed achievable through speedtest.

I don’t really need to connect other devices to 5G for now, once became more “powerful” I will switch to it rest of smart TVs.

I use speedtest app or website, never had any issues like that even on last dsl-ac88u, old rt-ac68u give me over 60Mb/s on my mobile.

Screenshot attached, mine is second from top (currently on 2.4 Ghz) , one above is my wife LG G6 for comparison. Not much connected yet as kids just woke up 😝

I don’t have problem with tv unless I turn on beam forming, mobile phone is LG v30, don’t know why is so slow, in generally wifi signal is stronger than any other wifi router its just speed on that signal is poor. It’s like driving 600bhp car with speed 30 km/h. 😂

I leave on latest Merlin and still will enjoy, one mobile phone is not issue at all where all other devices working 😅

O.K, tested above settings and all is the same (my mobile) for some reason something limiting my mobile to 45Mb/s on Internet… No QOS, nothing special set on router, I may try different fw now 😏

I believe in mobile phone is broadcom chipset, not sure about tv… However it looks like only one mobile phone have issue with this, already did factory reset on mobile and is still same. I will try to change QAM and will see from there.

Just done quick test, with explicit beamforming smart tv upstairs can’t play movies properly, keep dropping, after turned off all good, also with beam forming for ac I got slower link with mobile phone from bedroom and speed test exactly the same…

So when I got these options turned off is actually better then keep them on.

Well on mine problem is that even than link speed on my mobile is 866Mb doing speed test I can get max 45Mb/s (closer to router, upstairs ridiculous 2-3Mb where link speed is about 390Mb, faster speed test is on 2.4Ghz), when I do speed test on my pc (link speed 1.3Gb/s) I get full speed of my broadband like 69-71Mb/s. Only two devices are connected to 5G (my pc and my son) rest devices through 2.4g that is why I disabled mu mimo.

It was fine on previous router. 2.4G is very stable, watching full hd movie on smart tv (wifi 2.4g) from cloud connected to router through lan no issues at all with kids watching YouTube etc. Only issues when mobile phone connected to 5G, got poor performance, I thought maybe something happened to my mobile but tested on my brother router (ee supplied) and was perfectly fine. Mobile phone is lg V30.

Will try this one once i back from work, fancy to see if wifi will be faster than on Merlin for mobile phones, no issues with pc, but on moblie devices strangely slow? 🤔
