Thank you for your interest!!! Of course i will sale the AC88U iโm very very disappointed, with AC68U i never had problems!!! And of course, iโm not going to buy again an asus network product, i feel like being a beta tester all the timeโฆ as i can see from many many users and their complains about this product!!! I will go to AVM and see if everything is going to work again. Thank you again for your time!!!
Let us know how you progress with AVM (Fritz!Box) and do not forget, ASUS do offer RT series of wifi routers which tend to work very well, especially if using RMerlins (ASUSWRT-Merlin) firmware (specific model). but a separate modem is required.

February 21, 2019 at 8:59 am #2275Iโm using the latest 591 debug firmware. Iโll do some tests with Aiprotection disabled> reboot> enable Aiprotection. But itโs strange it always worked without problems, when I hung up yesterday I had no connection dsl / wan connected, maybe without those does not activate properly.
I did a little testing with my DSL-AC88U unplugged from DSL cable, when router was turned on with either AiP On or Off, the RAM usage started at 44% and then after a minute, dropped to 39% (ish) then as soon as I changed the status of AiP after router has started (Off or ON) then the MEM usage increased to around 55%, if I then disabled and enabled AiP again (for instance) the MEM usage remained around 55% SO my test showed boot up of router with AiP On or Off made no difference to intial memory usage, Once router was up and running, and AiP status changed (either way) then MEM usage increase to 55%. Alas I am not a coder, but I do find this interesting as this sort of means AiP maybe always On,? or RAM space is allocated and not released after the service is disabled?
To make sure that AIP is active, you need to know a site classified “dangeorus” (https://global.sitesafety.trendmicro.com/) and do some tests.
EDIT:
I have found on the TrendMicro website some test web addresses, classified as dangerous and are blocked with active AIProtection.I’ll be away for a few weeks and I can not do the various tests.

I did some tests and as soon as it connects to the internet after a while the ram rises to 55% and AIProtection works without problems.
TrendMicro through this site (https://success.trendmicro.com/solution/1056027-testing-the-web-reputation-feature-in-officescan-osce) provides fake links with a low reputation and if AIProtection works regularly they are blocked.P.S. As for the CPU, what is the maximum temperature? currently mine is at 64 ยฐ C with an ambient temperature of 22 ยฐ C, in summer it is over 30 ยฐ C.

February 25, 2019 at 4:11 pm #2302Good to know AiProtection is working with 55% Memory usage.
I have spoken with ASUS regarding CPU as there is always a lot of hyp/stress/worry with Routers core CPU temp.
In essence, if the router is situated in a room which has a temp range between 0-40 degrees Celsius and relative humidity does play a small part,ย but this should be ok.
If the CPU is under high usage, it will run at a higher temp than normal, but in reality, even for the wifi chips, anything over 80ยฐC is when you should start worrying (my view)
My RT-AC86U CPU runs at 69ยฐC currently and it is easy to tell as if CPU is too hot as you would experience random (unexplained) reboots etc.
From my old forum, users mentioned there CPU’s wasย 2.4 GHz: 66ยฐC – 5 GHz: 77ยฐC – CPU: 61.77. and the Broadcom CPU’s do run hot.
So you are fine but it always best practice to keep the router in a cool location, preferable well vented if possible ;-)

February 28, 2019 at 8:01 pm #2310Hi all update on my memory, it has now reached 96%, uptime 41 days and 6 hrs. At present time I have 11 WiFi connected and 2 lan connections. Wife noticed that her iPad was slower al loading eBay and Facebook this morning but no issue streaming a movie, not even buffering? It is looking like a WiFi memory issue?
I’m now at 96% memory utilisation after nearly 42days, just 17MB free, but the GUI is still responding OK, soย I’ve sent the feedback off to ASUS.
Unsure if there’s anything else I can capture before it crashesYou need to login in order to vote

March 1, 2019 at 1:25 pm #2315March 1, 2019 at 3:52 pm #2316For the ram problem, have you tried to delete the โGeneral Logโ?
Does this clear down much in terms or Memory space?

98% 11MB Free, cleared General Logย and still 11MB free, so it doesn’t have any effect on RAM usage
